Wendell Country Club

I’m familiarizing myself with the public and semi-private courses in the Wake Forest/Raleigh-Durham area, and I really enjoyed my round at Wendell CC. The fairways and greens were in pretty good shape, and the cart paths (a huge maintenance issue at most area courses, terrible!!) were not as bad as most. Staff was friendly and helpful (gave out free bottles of water to help with the high temps) and I thought the course was reasonably challenging. I would definitely recommend Wendell CC and definitely play there again!!

Layout is good, greens in good condition. Fairways ok.

Really slow because of league play in front of us. But they know the course shouldn’t taken 5 plus hours to play this course.

Need ranger on course to keep things moving.

Lack of Proper Green and Course Maintenance

The current condition of the greens is alarmingly poor. In several areas, the turf is severely damaged, resembling makeshift sand bunkers rather than putting surfaces. This significantly diminishes the overall quality of play. Additionally, it is quite difficult to place tees properly when preparing for tee shots, likely due to uneven or overly compacted ground on the teeing areas.

Lack of Etiquette Among Some Golfers

Unfortunately, the behavior of certain golfers on the course has been disappointing. Instances of rude and inconsiderate conduct have been observed, creating discomfort for others. Such behavior not only goes against the fundamental etiquette of the sport but also negatively affects the overall atmosphere of the golf course. (Could this be related to the location of the course or the characteristics of its regular clientele?)

Friendly Staff

On a positive note, the staff members are very friendly and courteous, which adds a pleasant touch to the overall experience, despite the issues mentioned above.

The course is in very good condition. Fun layout. Short. They are working on some greens but overall they are nice. The best thing about the place is the service. GREAT and friendly people everywhere. They act like they are happy to have you. That isn't to be taken for granted any more.

Hole 12 does not have a green which kinda sucks but other than that it’s good

I went to play at Wendell’ s on a weekend and enjoyed the course and its layout and despite the greens been recently being punched. Ball rolled nicely as they used fine sand on it. Pace of play was surprisingly good, 3:35 !

My son and I have both played this course before but we were not happy with our experience yesterday. The greens had recently been aerated, which I did not recall seeing any information about on GolfNow. And one of the holes had a temporary green setup that hadn’t even been mowed, so it was essentially just a hole cut in the middle of the “fairway”. The attendant at the grill left a little bit of a bad taste in our mouths as well, not the friendliest person ever (maybe they were just having a bad day?) Overall, just not worth what we spent, which is a shame because we do actually like this course.

If it had been any other week, I would say we got the value for our money but with freshly aerated greens and overwatering, it was not. Maybe next time.

Fairways and roughs in great shape. Only issue there were a few greens not in the best condition. Overall I love playing here.
