Wendell Country Club

Still a nice fun round of golf. Some holes are wide open and you can spray it around. Other holes require a little control. Greens are still nice. Fairways have been improved and are nice for a public course. There are still a few places in the first cut of the rough that is thin or bare, but that's why it's called "rough". It's a good value. They still need a ranger to encourage quicker play on weekends. At least put up some VERY CONSPICUOUS signs about golf etiquette. Some of your clientele are ignorant about speed of play.

There is one individual that works that counter and anybody that would read this if they go to the golf course regularly they know who I was speaking of. His attitude and the way he deals with people is enough to ruin your game if it stays in your head by the time you get to the first tee. Other than that the place is OK they have other wonderful people working there but this guy seems to be there a lot and it’s not just me. And I would say it if that was the case but several different people have told me the same thing. And why they continue to have him working behind the counter is beyond me.. He has no self-awareness; it’s that bad; the guy-is a rude idiot.

Tee off solo near 8am and was done before 1030...greens were in great shape and fairways also. Cart paths are terrible and gravel/broken pavement make for a bumpy ride. Great value just wish they had yardage markers from the par 3 holes.

I have played this course many times and each round gets worse. Members jump on the course at whatever hole they like and play back-to-back rounds. Combining scheduled public tee times and the fact there is no starter or ranger causes horrible backups. I had to leave my last round after it took nearly 2 hours to make it to hole 5. No one let's you play through, members are often hammered, and many fairways are still dirt. I live nearby but won't be back.

I have always enjoyed this course. Can be difficult, but not too much so. No houses to be worried about hitting with a stray shot. Some tee shots require control, but there are enough where you can let it rip. Fairways have improved and greens are always nice. At times, the pin placements and recent mowing, make some putts trickle 20 feet past the hole. But that's what makes it fun. The only problem I have with the course, is the clientele. In the past few years, it seems a LOT of people have started playing here that KNOW NOTHING ABOUT GOLF ETTIQUETTE. They play the back tees, even though they shoot in the high 80's or 90's. They take 10 practice swings, look at every putt from 4 sides, and play as though they have a $100 riding on every hole. AND... for some reason, they don't ever think about allowing a faster group to play through. This is not the course's fault, but I do believe someone of authority should educate these people and place signage to encourage speedier play. There is nothing wrong with being a bad golfer, but there is LOTS wrong with being a slow or inconsiderate golfer. You are not the only group on the course.

I always enjoy this golf course. Not a premium course but a course that is in good shape with a reasonable course fee.

The course was in really good shape, but there were WAY too many people out there. Really slow day.

Good course for the price we paid to play. Pace of play was really slow but the course was in pretty good shape.

Had a bunch of twosomes mixed in between foursomes and they could have easily been paired up if starter had been working.

I have played Wendell over the years and it has always been a good layout but needed some TLC.

I played it this past weekend and could see that the current management is definitely making some great changes. The greens were as good as I have ever played and the fairways are looking great!
