Great course for the Money
It’s not a bad drive from Raleigh. Course is in fair condition, but lots of water on it. It needs a driving range. Nice staff from the starter to the works inside. Good grill. I’d play it again.

Course management team is doing a great job in trying to improve some holes. Two par 3 are done and have worked out really well. They are working on a par 5 and 4 and hopefully will have same results.

AVOID!
Not my first time playing here but definitely my last. Booked on GolfNow without knowledge that 4 of the back 9 holes were closed from 100 yards out - wasn’t notified at check in or at the turn - yet was still charged full price when I went in to inquire, I was treated more rudely than I have ever been as a customer in my life.
Do not play this course until it is fixed - outside and in.
And, seeing now the reviews preceding mine (which are accurate), GolfNow really needs to flag this place.

Back nine really hurts rating
Front nine of the course is nice...course squeezes as much golf course as they can into a tight space. Back nine had maintenance of some sort on at least 4 holes but still had the gall to charge a full price. Recommend people stay away until course is whole.

Excessive for $39.00
I don’t know how people say this is a decent course. The fairways, roughs, tee boxes ,and cart paths are terrible. Don’t put anything in the cup holders or you’ll consistently drop them. They are rocky and destroyed. The greens were solid though.
The guy who runs the course it is extremely rude. Where the gentleman who sits at the first hole is a great and friendly guy.
$39.00 was extremely excessive for the course and it’s conditions. I played Lochmere in Cary the day prior for the same price and it’s far superior. Friendly staff, great fairways, roughs, tees, etc. ( I understand it’s Cary).
Three holes on the back 9 are under renovation. Some of them under renovation are par fours where staff placed a piece of sod halfway down the fairway for you to play them, essentially making them par 3s.
I get that it’s an old course and Wendell is up and coming. Hopefully the excessive money they are charging will be put to hiring more staff, making new cart paths, buying new machines, treating/ cutting the tee boxes, roughs, and fairways properly.
I won’t be back anytime soon, maybe next year. Hopefully some improvements are made.

$39.00 is Excessive
I’m not sure how people believe this is a decent course. I get it, it’s an old course but the fairways are lacking, the rough is scattered and a lot of it is either dirt/rocks or crab grass. I wouldn’t place anything in the carts cup holders for the cart path is so rocky and uneven. Three of the holes on the back 9 are under renovation. Where they placed a piece of sod to hit from halfway down these holes which are par 4s holes essentially making them par 3s. The greens are solid.
Wendell is up and coming so hopefully more revenue will come in. So they can get more staff to help consistently cut/ treat the fairways, roughs, and fix the cart path.
The gentleman who runs the course is extremely rude which is another reason I won’t be back anytime soon. The gentleman who sits at the first hole is a nice guy and one of the highlights of the country club.

Course
I’ve been playing WCC for several years. The improvements over the past 2 years have been impressive. In 2017/2018 the course was in bad shape but was told ‘just wait’.
Still a lot of work on 10, 11 and 18 but overall the course was in great shape.

Course Under Repair
Three of nine holes on the back nine were under repair. The course needed maintenance throughout, although there has been a lot of rain in the area. The fairways were grassy and greens unpredictable. We were not told up front that a large portion of the back nine is under repair. I did not enjoy this course. Bad shape for the price and area golf.

Needs reconditioning
Friendly staff, great pace of weekday morning play, and cheap. But.... the course is in rough shape. Significant bare spots in the first cut of rough on many holes, and even on some of the fairways. Three holes were under major repair (10, 11, 18) and cut down to par 3s, so the back is par 31 right now. Design is forgiving for a high handicap working on parts of their game, like I was. It wouldn't be a challenge for say a 9 hcp. Not a lot of sand, water is found on most par 3s. No map of the course on the scorecard needs to be fixed.

No $$ for Aeration and massive course repairs on 3 holes
Course has 3 holes under major RECONSTRUCTION, and fairways and greens were aerated BUT $$$ was not discounted...cartpaths are Pitiful.
