MetroWest Golf Club

About
This Robert Trent Jones Sr. design is one of the area’s most venerable venues. The fluid beauty of MetroWest provides for a challenging but playable experience. Wide rolling fairways give all levels of players the opportunity to find the short grass, and the four sets of tees working from 7,051 yards down to the 5,325-yard forward tees make hitting greens in regulation a reasonable endeavor. No push over, though, bunkers seem to anchor every corner on every dogleg and elevation changes of up to 100 feet in some circumstances tug back in the course’s favor.

very playable
A surprisingly empty Friday as i got around in about 2 hrs.40 minutes. Course is a great design, very playable...don't expect resort course conditions. Edges a little rough here or there, no biggie. Greens alright, seemed to roll true. Glad I was there.
Wide Fairways
Course was wide open. Very player friendly. Fairways need maintaining. Some grassy fairway areas very sparse. Different grass on various holes. Greens had just been top dressed with sand. Hard to judge the quality.
Good, but not great condition
Greens were not smooth, fairways ok, tee boxes need some work
Just Average
The price caught our attention, and then seeing that the course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, this created some expectations of the course. Unfortunately, the course was not in the best of shape. Having driven the area during our stay, many courses seemed to be green and lush, but this course was in fair condition. The starter described the course as in good condition and hyped it up. This only raised expectations that led to our middle-of-road review. The layout was fine - not too tough, but not too easy either.
The gentlemen outside setting you up in carts were friendly, the starter was friendly. The beverage cart girl was a little rough. The snack shop attendant was friendly. The "pro shop" attendant was too involved in the PGA Championship that was streaming on his computer to care about us.
All good except...
There was a major wreck on I-4 and leaving at 7 am for a 9 am tee time, which would have left us about 45 minutes there, gave us an 8:55 ETA.
So, I called the pro shop before leaving home and asked if we could move our tee time. The guy on the phone was kind of short with me and said no - then he went into the speil about how we were outside the 24 hour window for changes or cancellations.
It turned out they were working on the course that day and ours was the last tee time until mid afternoon when they would open up again - doing the work behind my 9:00 start.
We arrived at 8:55 and found al this out. We didn't get any grief and explained what was going on. Took our sweet time teeing off and had a great round with no one ahead or behind us. Played in about 3:45.
The fairways are a bit above average for this time of year around here, and the lack of rain we have experienced. The greens were very smooth and pretty, but the speed was a bit inconsistent which lead me to more 3 putts than I am used to.
Good course for the money. If he would have told me on the phone about the last tee time situation and just said get here when you can, it would have been a perfect day.
Course was in okay conditions. Greens somewhat slow. 4.5 hour. I'd give it average rating.
A great place to play golf
The back and front nines have been reversed since I played last year - no matter as it remains a fair test for players of all abilities. The course is well laid out and interesting in good condition notwithstanding the recent drought with wide fairways, changes of elevation and quite large greens. The staff both on course and behind the bar after the round were very friendly and I will definitely keep it on my rota of favourite places to play.
Metro west
The course played great with the exception of some tee boxes needing grass and some of the fairways needing some grass also. We didn’t have to wait on anyone compared to last week at Twin Ri
Wide open greens, staff is great. A little dry but they can’t control the weather
Disappointed
Showed up to the course with a cheap golf now tee time as usual..my girlfriend planned on riding along with me and they charged $30 for a rider fee. I payed $20 to play. Lol Kind of crazy. Also, there are no tee markers, just colored sticks? Tee boxes and fairways are in tough shape here and there. Greens were alriiight. I flew through the front in about 55 minutes, but I caught up to a double and single in front of me at the turn so I just dipped. Probably won’t be back. Sorry, Metrowest.
Great layout
The course gets better and better every year. Great layout. Friendly staff. One of my favorite places to play.
