Love hot deals here!
I haven't played Grove Park in a few years but scored a great deal on Golfnow and was glad I did! Let me say first and foremost that this is a great course, just not worth the over-hyped price they charge.
All of the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The starter let me go off early by myself in front of a foursome.
The fairways are in pretty good shape but people don't know how to use the sand bottles on the course. There were several divots that could ruin a good shot. People, PLEASE FILL YOUR DIVOTS!
The greens were freshly mown so my putts rolled true. These are typical Donald Ross greens with deceptive breaks so you have to watch your speed.
There are only 3 par 5s and all are easily reached if you have a decent tee shot. Your second shot on number 12 is kind of a blind approach so you might want to check it out before you go for the green.
The green on #13 is a roller coaster ride if the pin's in the back and your approach lands on the front!
I highly recommend GP if you can get a Hot Deal from Golfnow...
Excellent staff. The course was in very good condition even with lots of rain in the past few days. Only negative is the cost per round.
One of my favorite courses
Splendid layout in excellent condition. Greens are like
velvet. Traps could be better.
Always an enjoyable round..
Beautiful setting
This course is great but dated. Lacks practice range and the single net hitting bay is inadequate and not in keeping with a course of this stature. Overall course conditions great but the greens seem to have slipped a bit compared to prior visits. Still one of our favorite golf experiences with challenging Donald Ross design and lots of elevation changes and beautiful surroundings. We will go back for sure but would like to see some improvements for the prices
Good resort course
Nice track. Great condition except for aerated greens. About a week away to be perfect. Enjoyed the. Day. Hit it 4inches on par 3 and did not win closer to hole. Girl I played with had hole in one. Overpriced great course for $85 -$100
One of my favorites
This Donald Ross course is one of my favorites in WNC. Not extremely long, playing about 6300 yds from the blue tees, but very challenging inside 100 yards. The greens were a bit slow today, not completely healed from aerification. I loved it so much and the weather was so great, I played 36 holes. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. It's a bit pricy but I usually use HotDeals for this one!
Donald Ross for sure
A quientisential Donald Ross design that is relatively short, tight, but very challenging with emphasis on the approach shot and skill around the green. Took me 9 holes to better figure out the course and would love to play it again. Did score an $88 hot deal on a Tues. Am while visiting Asheville and this is good value. $130 is steep for this course. Pace was good and finished in 3 hrs. Had another single behind that I let through since he was playing the whites (5200 yards) and pushing me. I wanted to take my time and enjoy trying to figure out the breaks on the undulating greens.
Fast round, slow greens
I was the first one off this morning and completed my round in three hours flat. Had been a lot of rain recently, and the greens have been drilled and filled, so the greens were quite slow. The course layout is great. I love the old courses.
Beautiful Course
I love playing here. It is a beautiful course with breathtaking scenic views of the mountains, intelligently designed, and suitable for a wide range of skill levels. The staff are great and do an amazing job at ensuring the golfer has an enjoyable and relaxing experience. I’d recommend this course to anyone looking for a high quality course at a reasonable price on golfnow
Nice to be back
First time back in 40 years, much to long, grew up on this course, moved away in 72, came back just to play the course, looked good played good, wont wait so long next time.
WHO TF PUNCHES GREENS THE DAY BEFORE THE MASTERS STARTS
I worry about the competency of people in charge when I see something like this.
Who punches greens the day before the masters starts?
Can't believe a 'reputable" golf course is going to punch fresh holes in their greens the day before the Masters starts. I worry about the competency of people.
Not Impressed
RESORT course in beautiful location with nine side hill holes and nine up and down hill holes. The sidehill holes have a decent layout but the up and down hill holes are all straight and boring. The greens are large and nice with the course in overall good condition. The problem is with the WAY OVERPRICED fees to play here. It is a 50 dollar course they charge way over 100 dollars to play. I guess if you stay here its convenient but that's the only reason I would ever consider wasting my money here. 50 BUCKS SURE, 150 BUCKS THEY WANT, NOT EVEN CLOSE! I reccomend REEMS CREEK a short drive, fair price, excellent condition, and 100 times better layout.
Nice and easy
Beautiful property. Greens were a little slow for winter but very enjoyable round. winter time is a slow time and was a little bit disappointed as to Beverages and food service.
Grove Park in January
Course was in good shape for all the bad weather we have had. Great layout and very tricky greens. Always nice to get to play this course.
Enjoyed an iconic course.
My wife and I played today in fairly cool conditions and enjoyed our round. Got a good deal on golfnow. The staff was very friendly and informative. The thing that got me was how people who claim to like to play golf and will not fix a divot or ball mark. These things are generally made by people that are decent golfer. Seems to me if you like to play you would respect the course and keep it where everyone can enjoy the game. If you don't fix these things don't complain about the course condition. Great round.
