Slow Greens
Greens were very slow, and people don't fix their divots! Also the course was dry but the course layout is great!
good course as always
it's been a while since i last played here, but the course was in good shape as i remembered. the only thing was that the greens were very slow. other than that ,good . pace of play was also good.would definitely return for another round. please put some softer sand in the bunkers!
I'll definitely play here again
There were definitely dry spots throughout on the fairways, but the course overall was in good shape
Always fun
Course a little dry but 3 1/2 hours on a Tuesday and greens are good
New Management
I played in this course back in May and because of the great experience I chose to play again. The problem is that the management company lost the bid to continue in the business, they probably spent zero dollar to maintain. The course was ran down. Thanksfully new management will take over in September. Hope the course endures few more months if no maintenance...

Played here twice in the same week Wen. and Friday. Players I played where very frindly. Should recamend this course.
Good Value
Typical LA "old school" course. Forgiving, wide fairways. Conditions are fair to good considering drought. Not the best, not the worst. Good value for $32. 4 hour round. I will repeat.
Not what it once was, but still worth the trip.
The water situation in California has taken it's toll on this course. Santa Anita was always a course with lush greens, fairways, and rough; unfortunately, due to the water restrictions there are a lot more brown spots and hardpans. The fairways are still decent, but I found myself bumping my ball in a few fairways to get off of dirt after hitting a good tee shot. The greens are very soft and receptive, but extremely slow. I don't know the stimp number, but they are about the slowest I've ever played on. Pace of play on weekends is generally 5+ hours, but the staff is friendly, the food is good and it's still an overall enjoyable experience. For the money, this is still a good value golf course. Not the most challenging, so it's a good track for high handicappers and older players.
Nice enjoyable round - will play again
My first time playing here and I really liked it.
The course doesn't have many hazards and fairways are pretty wide so it's a bit easier than many courses. It's very green and lush so in much better shape than others that are hard and burnt out due to drought conditions. Greens are noticeably soft and spongy... so very receptive, but a bit slow.
Pace of play was excellent - finished in less than 5 hours on a Saturday which was nice. Overall it was a great, enjoyable round.
Broke 80
The course is your typical California Muni, but for me it's become special. I broke 80 for the first time, and it was at this golf course. Enjoyed the layout where you have to play both a fade and draw off the tee in many holes.
This course has great layout..!!
I will play again in this course.
I wish that there were more verdant condition in fairway and rough around green.
Arrogant Rude Staff
I've golfed all over SoCal in the last several years. I routinely encounter friendly, accommodating staff. I have golfed here twice in the last two months, and the the staff has gone out of their way to criticize my group in ways I have never seen before. If you enjoy being patronized by ornery public golf course employees, then come play here
5 hours today to finish
Fastest time to finish in 5 hours playing golf @ Santa Anita.
Greens were pretty good
LOUSY
TERRIBLE VALUE AND UNFRIENDLY STAFF. FAIRWAYS MUDDY AND OTHER AREAS HAVE HARDPAN. NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY OR TIME. TERRIBLE FOOD AND SERVICE.
Disappointed
Normally it's a nice track, but recent practice of underwatering made the fairways brown in many areas. That is not my biggest gripe however, the pace was woefully slow. I'm a weekend golfer so I realize these courses get fairly slow, but this round was extra slow. My tee time was at 807 and you would think the pace is adequate even in muny standard, but NO. I think allowing 5somes caused some of this blame. I'd come back because their greens nice, but it was a round that got me thinking about the pace of play.
review
Good value through Golfnow. Course in good condition
Nice Round of Golf
This is an LA County golf course. They allow fivesomes which can affect your POP. You still should complete your round in 4.5 hrs. Even with the watering restrictions due to the drought, the course is in decent condition - mostly green with a few brown spots. Greens are alittle slow since they are keeping them alittle longer so they do not burn out. Many greens are built up so your shots can fall off the edges. Good value.
Great Condition
Although it rain and the greens had recently been punched the course was in excellent shape. The Proshop could stand a make over but I would definitely play this course again and recommend it to other players.
