spend 3 hours only play 9 holes in last day of the year
The tee off time was delayed and the course over booked the group. I spend 3 hours and only play 9 holes , waste time and money. It’s not worthy to play in the last day of the year. Maybe choose some other tee time would be better.

Pace of Play Nightmare: Not Worth $75
Santa Anita Golf Course was a massive disappointment. For $75, I expected a well-run course with a manageable pace of play—not the chaotic disaster we encountered. It took 3.5 hours to play just 11 holes, and we were forced to leave because finishing the round would have taken an entire day.
The course staff seemed completely uninterested in managing pace of play or addressing the backups. No marshals in sight, no communication, nothing. For a course charging premium rates, this level of disorganization is unacceptable.
The layout is decent, but it’s hard to enjoy when you’re waiting on every shot. Greens were in average condition, but nothing about the experience justifies the price tag. You’d be better off spending your money at a course that values its players’ time and offers a smoother experience.
Save yourself the frustration and find another course. Santa Anita is not worth the headache—or the $75
Stop Overbooking T Times!
Our 9 hole round on 12/18/24 took almost 3 HOURS!
We waited on EVERY HOLE from 3-9! At 7, there were 3 GROUPS in front of us waiting at the T. If you keep overbooking, people will stop coming to Santa Anita GC. We’ll try one more round, and if it’s clogged up again, that will be our last round at Santa Anita. Overbooking is really short-sided thinking. Yes, you make a LITTLE more money on the day, but mark my words: keep doing that and folks will simply stop coming, including us!
Good Day on the golf course
Myself and my group enjoy playing at Santa Anita golf course. We seem to encounter problems starting with the first three par which is hole four. That seems to be a choke point which causes the pace of play to slow down. We have always had very nice, professional people at check in, with a good sense of humor and golf knowledge. Course is in need of some T.L.C..
cart fee
I was told by staff I have to pay for the cart fee. they said they told Golfnow several time to post it as walking rate, but golfnow does not follow that instruction. It is a false advertising by either Golfnow or the golf course. I want to be credited for the cart fees.
Great fun course
Love to play at this course, get to use lots of driver shot and really not to worry about losing ball lol.
Worst place ever.
They let people play 5 with 7 minutes in between tee times. Worst course management ever. Played there 3 times every time it’s back up at least 2 tee times. Never again
Here comes winter golf, bah!
Many tees and sand traps were in poor shape (bare tees and traps needing sand). Some were in the process of being repaired.. Pace of play was right at 4 hours for a foursome. Greens were not very true. On a scale of 1 to 5 overall the grade was a two. Staff were very friendly and very helpful by being flexible with a late player on a busy day. Thank you.
Horrible pace just like everytime
Santa Anita has been overbooked and horrible pace for a long period of time. Didn’t play there for few months but same old. Guarantee a 15 mins late starts as usual and took 40 mins for first three holes. Guarantee at least two to three groups jam on those two par 3s on front nine. Condition is not bad in general so if you have a 5 plus hours to spare and not in a hurry sure. If you have only 4:30hrs, you will not finish the round
Something Needs to Change
So sick of these city courses not monitoring pace of play. Took us 4 hours to get through 12 holes before the sun went down.
Decent- fun though.
A decent fun little course. Not very long overall, but the par 3s are the more difficult holes here which I think was cool, anywhere from 150-230 yards from the tips. Not too much trouble, wide fairways not a bunch of trees- but enough to where you’ll be in them if you miss hit it. Greens are in good condition. Still need to hit good shots to go low. 5 hour round starting @ 10am. The fun thing about this course is you can let the big dog eat on a bunch of holes with very little consequence.
Slow old people in front of us.
Loved the course. Moguls everywhere. Every fairway was lined with trees.
The pace of play was awful. There was a foursome of old fellows two groups ahead of us and they took an incredible amount of time on every green. By 15, there was no one ahead of them. No presence of a marshal. We had to skip around them to finish our round.
Worst pace of play I've experienced
Pace of play was terrible. Some par 3's there were FOUR groups waiting. No Marshall to hurry up the slower groups. Plus first time ever a course has ever charged me for a no show fee. Course was decent condition and greens were good. But couldn't enjoy the course since I was waiting Majority of the time. Started at 1PM and had to finish the 18th hole in the dark. Ridiculous... wouldn't recommend coming here
