Course is in great condition. Greens, tee boxes and fairways were all in great condition. I have played the course several times over the last year or so and it just keeps getting better. First time playing course this year and very impressed. The work they are doing is paying off. Can’t wait to play again. They are working on new clubhouse that looks very impressive. Great views throughout the course. Well worth the trip. I will be playing again.
Friendly staff and REALLY SLOW play.
The staff was friendly. The course had two marshals. The too were nice.Too nice. They chatted with all of the groups but no one was moving. We quit after 14 holes. It was so frustrating. I might play here during the week but never on a a weekend. N-E-V-E-R!!!!!
Long but Lush.
The course was absolutely beautiful. Course seemed to play a little bit long as we got very little rollout on the fairways. The greens were a little bit tricky as they often sloped away from the fairway so have to really think about putting your approach shots on the front part of the green. Definitely would play it again. Currently the amenities Are limited to a small driving range, a vending machine and a food trailer. However, they are in the process of building what looks like a gorgeous clubhouse pro shop and welcome center. In September it will be a completely different experience at the welcome portion.
Great course
We have played there twice now and enjoyed both times. Course is in great shape, staff was very friendly. Even the carts were nice and clean. Only problem centers around construction of new clubhouse. Parking is limited, we waited 15 mins for someone to leave since it was full. Also, the temporary clubhouse isn’t near 9 so make sure you stock up on beverages before you tee off. Once they get the new clubhouse done it will be quite the facility.
Happy golfer
I arrived 40 minutes before my tee time. I went on golf now for my tee time. I was asked if I wanted to go on or wait for others to check in. I thought it might rain so I chose to play alone. 3 groups in front of me were very nice and let me go through. I played Springdale in 2 hours. It was so much fun. The course was in excellent shape in spite of all the construction going on. I enjoyed so much, I would like some membership information.
Hidden Gem!
This was a fantastic golf course for the value. The course was in Great shape and the speed of play was quick. Played 18 holes in 3 hrs 20 min. I did not rate the off course amenities because the new owners are building a nice new clubhouse which is still under construction(it looks like it will beautiful when completed as it overlooks the 18 green). The temporary building works fine for now. the course is a little forgiving from the tees with wide fairways but requires more accurate 2nd shots to hit the greens. I am only down in the area a few weeks each year but will add this to my list to play each time.
A Good Reason to drive into the countryside
Springdale is an oddity in the mountainous geographic area of western North Carolina, and in a "good way". First of all, it has bent grass greens whereas almost all other area tracks are Bermuda. Secondly, its greens are rather large (some even huge), so putting from distance skills are required to score. Thirdly, it provides the player two distinct styles to experience during the round - the traditional layout of the first 5 holes on rather flat terrain, and then the wild hilly roller coaster ride of the remainder of the course (which can play long and brutish, especially if it is windy and/or cool as weather would have it).
It is much fun and all the challenge one would want (the memorable #16 long downhill par 4 every bit the tester a player could ask for). You not only remember it, you dream of returning to it.
Best kept secret in town
It’s about 40 mins out from Asheville and by far the best course (open to the public) I’ve played around town. Greens are in great shape, firm and fast. Well kept fairways and bunkers. They are rebuilding the club house and will be re-paving the cart paths. I will be back quite often, especially when they finish construction.
Fun course
Not far from Asheville. The course is in great mid season shape. Greens are smooth and roll at a good speed. Try to play here once a week. Last couple of years with new owners has made this a mountain jem. When the new clubhouse is finished it will be a complete package. About 40 minutes from Asheville and well worth the trip. Highly recommend.
Course looking better and better
Fairways are in great shape. They've cut some trees so some holes are a little more forgiving-yay! Fairways are so lush, it's hard to see the colored yardage plates at 100, 150 & 200yds. If you mark the cart paths with yardage markers, it will help speed play, especially when it's cart path only. Greens are big, & smooth, and looking better every day. Love the "Hybrid" tees that combine the white tees with the gold! Thank you, thank you!! Friendly staff, great conditions & those Hybrid tees will bring me back!
Worth the ride from Asheville
Fun layout, greens were healing nicely from verticut and rolled true.
Will definitely be back in a few weeks.
fine mountain course
They are building a new clubhouse, so amenities are non-existent. Super friendly staff. Nice layout and many challenging holes. Greens are relatively flat and true. I recommend a visit.
