Pleasantly surprised
I played here while on a vacation / work trip.
Course was pretty decent after getting hit with bad weather a few days prior. Bunkers were being fixed ,raked from the heavy rains . It’s was cart path only on one hole for the entire course. A pretty good impression of how well things drain. Had no idea that it used to be a Landfill site, which a local filled us in on when playing the second round. Price is spot on for what you get.
Worth it....
Good not great. Good condition. Lots of walkers slwed down pace of play some. Not too bad. Back 9 no one was walking. Well, technically front nine since they were starting everyone on 10. Nice people. Very friendly. No bev cart. Bought everything at clubhouse.
Great Value!
As of 9/10/24 the course is under improvements. With that said the course is one best deals in Charlotte.
-Yardage felt shorter than actual
-Wide and forgiving fairways
-3 of 18 Greens could use some repair
-Great practice facility
Overall a 7/10. Will 100% return.
MSM
Having played course under previous owners it was affordable and not tore up. Many fairways had drainage repairs, digging mounds of dirt in fairways. Greens had brown dirt spots on few greens and most had weeds growing in spots in green. Starter came around and worked on 14 the cup had European hornet in it be careful not to stick hand in it. Spent $229 four foursome and given course conditions should have been no more than $35 each. You just surpassed the Divide for poorest course for price in area. Suggest take ride to SC and play Edgewater, cheaper and way better course.
Best of the Charlotte public courses
A few years ago the city upgraded the greens here to their credit. Now they have improved the tee boxes and fairways which are in great shape. A couple of the greens seem to have a fungus but the holes were placed where the fungus did not impact play. Only the sandtraps were less than ideal, in part because of recent rain storms, but also because of the lack of sand.
The Clubhouse and pavilion have been renovated and look great. The biggest improvement, for me at least, was the new fleet of electric carts.
I'll definitely include Myers more often in my course circuit.
Fun course
I really enjoyed the course. It’s very open so there’s a lot of forgiveness if you make a bad shot you’re able to make up for it and the overall course is very fun and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Some of the greens were in good shape, but overall the course in general was good.
Golf
The course has a nice layout and was in good condition
Rude Players
Went out for a round of golf on my Birthday. I started promptly at 4:12 which was my tee time. I made through the front nine, but when I approached the 10 hole that’s where the day shifted. In front of me was a group of four that wouldn’t allow me to advance through. I made several attempts to swiftly move around them yet they refused. They were beginners not knowing which club was which or Irons. I returned to the clubhouse and explained the situation and was told there was nothing they could do about it. I asked for a rain check and was turned down. What a Bizarre Birthday Gift huh. The moral of this review is “ Learn the rules or stay off the course “
Bad
Only reason to play this course is because everything else is booked. Would recommend sitting home instead. 30 bucks for a six pack of white claws. It’s always over booked, no marshal helping with pace of play anywhere to be found. Tee boxes, rough, fairways and greens are all super overgrown. Just a really bad and overpriced course. New management is doing a terrible job. They need to shut down for a half a year and address the abysmal course conditions for any chance at becoming decent again.
Quality lacking
For this to be one of the most expensive municipal courses in Charlotte it sure does not add up to that. Greens have serious bald patches, fairways have bald spots and some time grass is not cut so it feels like you are in the rough. Rocks in the sand and when it rains they are unplayable. Literally this place under new management has fallen off as once a gem. To me it’s just sad because they have new carts.
Horrible experience, Save your money
Arrived as a single player, called the day before to make sure it was fine to bring my small dog as long as I had him on a leash on the cart and they approved. Immediately when I walked in to play, the superintendent came and started making smart remarks about me being my dog. I book a tee time and they said they were 15 mins behind, which is fine but I ended up waiting 40 mins to start. While i waited i decided to grab a small cooler off the back of my truck because it was 95 and 90% humidity, the boss once again came out and said i was not allowed to carry a cooler. So i bought a few waters which ended up getting hot after 3 holes. Once i reached hole 5 I saw a water cooler to refill the bottles, but it was empty.
As far as the course conditions go, the greens had 6 weeks worth of old holes still showing and affecting putts, horrible cart paths, and washed out fairways. Save your money go somewhere else.
