Greens are dying - don't waste your money
Played CT Myers GC on Thursday June 27th. On the first couple of greens we noticed that there were some problems with greens. There were brown areas and bare places where the grass was gone. Then we discovered that every green on the course had issues, with some worse than others. We were thinking that there was some kind of pest infestation or fungus killing the greens. After the round we quizzed an employee in the clubhouse about what was going on with the greens. She told us that the irrigation system was broken and that the greens hadn't been watered. It is sheer incompetence to let your greens die from lack of water when there is plenty of water available. If you have to, get a water wagon and manually water the greens, one at a time, but you don't let the greens die. These greens were in good shape in late May.
Pace of Play was bad
Hole #7 got really stacked up. Had to wait 30 minutes for 4 groups to tee off before it was our turn. Long waits at other holes as well. Left after 14 holes due to the wait times.
Maintenance Fell off a Cliff
This used to be a go to spot for budget rounds back in ‘22. Flooded greens, ground under repair, and lack of maintenance has turned this place for the worst. I won’t be back.
It’s decent
Overall the course is alright. The fairways are probably the best part about the course. The greens are pretty patchy and the drainage is poor on the greens and other places as well. I do like the course design, there are some challenging spots, but also some fairways that are pretty wide open. If you play on the weekends there’s a Marshall who drives around and offers you water which is pretty awesome considering how hot it is in the summer. Everyone is super nice here which is a plus. I believe I paid 57$ for 18 which isn’t bad but I feel like it’s a little much for this course. I know for a fact I’ll be playing here again despite having other options that are just as good or better for the price.
Staff was welcoming!
I didn’t play very well, but the conditions were optimal. Staff was very cordial, friendly & knowledgeable. The hot dogs around the turn, as well as the 2nd 6 pack hit the spot. Had a great time. Thank you. I may need to sign up for classes with Reina!
Golfing on Saturday
My round was pretty smooth for a Saturday morning at 9:45am. The course is in good shape. The greens were firm and rolled great. The new management has done a great job so far in changing things. Thr rough was really ROUGH. They do need to cut it just a little to make it manageable especially closer that you get ro greens. Very good day!!!!
Course Condition
Definitely one of the worst courses I’ve seen in Charlotte. It’s a great course if your learning the game due to it being wide open and price friendly but if your looking for a nice round pay the extra 10-30$ go golf somewhere else. Fairways look like chopped up backyard and haven’t seem to get cut in months, Greens are slow and overgrown. You’ll get a beating to your clubs here. Staff is great. Course isn’t
Really has gone down hill
First of all let me compliment the staff. Everyone was friendly and inviting. I was really disappointed in the course conditions. It had been a few years since I had played here. The greens which used to be pretty good are now in rough shape filled with weed sprigs ( pioana) and there was little distinction between the fairway and rough. Will be while before I return
Not up to par !
I played this course for the first time about a year ago and have played it 25 times or so since. I was really impressed with the course during all of 2023. Greens were really good and the layout was interesting and challenging. That said, for the last couple months or so the course has been in bad shape. I played there today and the greens and tee boxes are terrible. The fairways are only a little better. Other area courses are in pretty good shape now after the typical winter conditions. I don’t know if the recent deterioration has anything to do with the change of course management but it is very disappointing. I hope improvements happen soon.
