About
Neuse Golf Club was ranked as one of the best public golf courses in North Carolina, second only to Pinehurst. The layout winds along the Neuse River across rolling hills that are dotted with rocky outcroppings. Towering, mature pines accent the landscape as well, especially along the fairways. Each hole provides a dramatically different challenge and unique scenery. Views of the winding river can be enjoyed on almost every hole. A variety of bunkers and doglegs are strategically placed throughout the golf course, demanding both accuracy and thoughtful strategy. The design closely follows the natural contours of the hilly terrain. Dramatic elevation changes guarantee that flat lies will be hard to find. The golf course is no easy feat but the beautiful scenery and interesting hole designs will appeal to any player.

Bad Timing
Looked forward to playing the course after 6+ years since playing it last. Unfortunately they were aerating the greens. Had to play the back nine twice with the greens top dressed in sand. This was just bad timing. But it would have been nice to know ahead of time when booking through GolfNow. Overall, the fairways were in great shape but the tee boxes could use some attention.

Misinformation
I set up my tee time through golf now but there was no mention of the back nine being closed. When I checked in at the front desk no one informed me of the closed back nine. I was informed after finishing the front. Really disappointed since I drive 62 miles to play a course I like very much.

They punched the back nine and didn't tell anyone.
Back nine was punched as we were playing. No flags or holes on the green. No sign saying closed. We had to play front nine again. Usually a good course. Disappointed in this experience.

Back 9 closed
When we booked the tee time we were not told that the back 9 was closed. We were also not told when we checked in and paid. It wasn't until we were getting ready to hit off on number 10 someone rode up and said the back 9 was closed due to aerating. Same guy that was standing at the counter when we checked in. So we had to play the front 9 twice. If we would have known before hand we would have went elsewhere. Still like the course. Just poor communication.

Masterpiece
Everything is great, this is the best track in the triangle. They are constantly improving the experience and fixing little cosmetic things. They listen to their customers and the pride they take in delivering a great golf experience really shows!

Nice Course and Staff, Members are Impatient and Entitled
Thr staff in the clubhouse was helpful, respectful, and friendly. The grill has good food and friendly bartenders.I golfered 2 rounds in a week at the course and really like it. It was very busy both weekend days and we were waiting on most tee boxes. During one round we were hit into by members (they had custom carts) and during the other the group behind us complained that they had gotten hit into several times as well.When I told one player that they hit into us, he was unappologetic and acted as if it was our fault. Although there are several blind tee shots, the GPS displays the location of all carts on the hole.
I am not sure why the members open the course to non-members, then treat them poorly. I play 80-100 rounds per year and this is some of the most unusual course behavior I have encountered. I suggest that the course either go fully private (if the members can afford it?) or have a talk with the members about their behavior towards others on the course.

Love The Neuse
This course has been a favorite of mine for a few years. The greens weren’t as pristine as usual, but I’ll chalk that up to this unprecedented amount of rain this summer.
There’s a challenge on every hole from blind tee or second shots, forced layups and that dang rock outcropping on 15 that I called the bane of my golf game until this last round.
Play it and love it.
