The Neuse Golf Club

Had been a long time since I played The Neuse. Glad I made it back. Conditions were really good - tee boxes, fairways, rough and greens (although I could be critical and say a touch slow & some bumpy). This is a great layout. Premium to keep in fairway and to have some course knowledge. Would be challenging to walk as many holes have elevation changes. Staff was very friendly and engaging. Would play again.

Always my favorite track! Greens were still sandy from the last aeration but not unplayable. Pace was slower than I like but that’s golf. I wish I didn’t live so far away or I would be a member.

I was so excited to get a chance to play The Neuse. I haven't played in over 25 years.

Back in the day it struck me as one of the better courses in the Raleigh area. Right out of the gate disappointment set in, with no forewarning through golf now in booking this time were we made aware that the back nine would be closed for aeration.

That meant we had to play the front nine twice.

It didn't seem like they made an accommodation for this as when we made the "turn", Everything bogged down, they were three groups per hole and the pace of play became unbearably slow.

We found out that pre-Covid the course was running into financial issues and it ended up being sold and bought by new ownership. They seem to be working on the course as the fairways were very lush and playable. The greens on the other hand we're not so good. I think they were the sport tiff greens and they were very patchy. One of the greens on the front nine at the higher elevation seemed to not be getting any water at all and it looked like it had been in a three month drought, as the grass was very burnt out and looked as if they were about to lose that green. We really haven't had an extremely dry spring this year. I guess if you want to say for the money which we got a hot deal I have been on worse courses, but this used to be a really really good course in Raleigh and it has been left to rot away.

Hopefully the new ownership is working on it and maybe next year it will be in much better shape.

First time playing this course and was super impressed. Tee boxes perfect, fairways perfect, greens are all cut evenly and super fast and consistent. Will definitely be returning. Props to the grounds crew for keeping it in such good shape.

Played here for the first time in awhile and the course was in great shape! Always is! Used to play here all the time before Covid when the price to place was half of what it is now so I don’t get out to this course as much anymore but was in great condition as always

Good course, well maintained. Should consider more time between groups as the pace was slow.

We had zero issues with ANYTHING this course offered. EVERY HOLE WAS SCENIC, COURSE IN IMMACULATE CONDITION, GREAT STAFF, RELAXED ATMOSPHERE.....NUFF SAID!

1. There was no starter. We had an 11:30 tee time, the 11:20 tee time players got there the same time we did at 11:28. We got to tee off at 11:42, 12 minutes late

2. We placed an order from the 8th tee. Showed up at the turn and they only made half of it. They remade the order, wouldn’t bring it to us on the course, asked us to wait. Cost us another 15 minutes. 27 total delays.

3. There was a 2 man scramble behind us playing very fast. We let them play thru. We waited about 10 minutes. 37 in delays.

4. The head pro came to us on hole 14 and told us to pick up and go to 15. We had to skip a hole.

Most of that delay could’ve been avoided by Neuse employees doing their job. For $75 a round I expect much more.

Course was in nice shape. Nice range and chipping/putting area.

If you thought NC was a flat state with no hills, then go play the Neuse, very picturesque with undulating greens. Well worth the money and drive.

Amazing layout and one of the most beautiful courses I’ve ever played!! Hope to return here one day!
