The Neuse Golf Club

Winter conditions are a bit sloppy, quite muddy in spots. The course overall is in good shape. Walking is good, with only two or three distances btw holes long. Course winds through a mature single-fam home development. Good value.

Over all, the course was in really good shape for how much rain we have had. The course did not have a starter, nor were there any marshals throughout the day.Staff inside should of had a better handle on the first tee box. Why would you put a single behind two foursomes and a fivesome? Asked to start off early, or off the back, denied on both. Members were seen driving their carts in the fairways. which were wet, when it was cart path only, but staff did not seem to want to address it.

All courses in NC are very wet right now. Although course was soaked it has a great challenging layout for a mid handicapper. Course amenities are sub-par. Overall it was a 3 to 3.5 star experience and I will go back.

Today was a colder December day, so there was a frost delay - completely understandable. This did cause a lot of confusion/miscommunication between the starter and pro shop. I was in a three-ball and the group that ended up teeing off before us was a 6-ball! Luckily I was playing with a member who immediately called into the pro shop to force the 6-ball to break up into 2 groups, which still took 20 minutes for the Marshall to respond.

We were stuck behind these two groups for the remainder of the front 9, which caused almost a 2.5 hour front 9. After 9 holes, one of our group left early because they were tired of waiting. Fortunately us last two were able to play through the 2 slow groups on 10 and 11 - once we passed them we didn’t see a single group on the course again. Really poor management of pace of play, the entire course was backed up because of those 2 groups on a day when the course was only half full.

The layout of the course is fun, but the greens are completely trashed. There was so many divots unrepaired and sand spots - and they were the slowest greens I’ve played in the area. I wouldn’t recommend people go play out there any time soon until they are able to repair their greens. It’s unfortunate because it is a very fun layout, and was a great course the last time I played there about 10 years ago.

There needs to be a marshall patrolling the course. Our foursome got stuck behind a group who were playing way too slow and would not let us play through. On top of that, the group behind us knew nothing of the rules of etiquette. As they were playing from the red tees, they hit into our group more than once, not waiting on us to move forward. We would have let them play through, but due to the aforementioned group, it would have done no good.

I love playing this course b/c it challenges ALL aspects of your golf game. The golf condition was good as for pace of play. Would definitely reccomend and return myself.

The course was in fair condition. Pace of play was slow. We didn’t know they were finishing the course member member tournament. They had a 1 hour frost delay which they can’t control I realize. I do feel they could have run some of the players off tenth hole to speed up pace of play. Unfortunately we had to quit on the 15 hole after teeing off at 12:52pm tee time. Otherwise overall satisfied with the staff and the course conditions. Will play again but make sure they aren’t having a tournament the day of play.

Horrible time management. They overbook tee times and there is no ranger to assist starting.

If you paid a cart fee for 18 holes, you should not be charged an extra 18 bucks to ride in a cart by yourself. Definitely not in a pandemic. It wasn't crowded, but when you see no one wearing mask in the club house and laughing about being a "Red County" says a lot about the staffing. I will never play there again.

Great course layout. Lots of elevation making shorter par 4's more of a challenge. Nice neighborhood, club house, driving range. All around a fun place to play
