About
Neuse Golf Club was ranked as one of the best public golf courses in North Carolina, second only to Pinehurst. The layout winds along the Neuse River across rolling hills that are dotted with rocky outcroppings. Towering, mature pines accent the landscape as well, especially along the fairways. Each hole provides a dramatically different challenge and unique scenery. Views of the winding river can be enjoyed on almost every hole. A variety of bunkers and doglegs are strategically placed throughout the golf course, demanding both accuracy and thoughtful strategy. The design closely follows the natural contours of the hilly terrain. Dramatic elevation changes guarantee that flat lies will be hard to find. The golf course is no easy feat but the beautiful scenery and interesting hole designs will appeal to any player.

Soggy Weather
No one in clubhouse had masks on, normally the course plays well but because of the rain it was really soggy. The green was good considering everything. pace of play was a little slow. Only play 9 of 18 because of wet conditions and pace of play

Course rates were cheaper than most courses in Raleigh which are in horrible condition and bad layouts

It’s winter, I guess
Course is in bad shape. Nothing was over seeded for winter, some tee boxes had no grass at all and were just sand, greens may have been painted green but had very little grass, some bunkers were washed out and most haven’t been raked in awhile. The course layout is great and when I’ve played this course years ago it was in good shape. I’d have to see some good reviews later for me to go back.

Good Day
I enjoyed the course today. Not too many braved the cold weather this morning but the day turned out weather and full of sunshine. It was wet, which is to be expected in winter conditions after a couple days of rain.
My only complaint is with the maintenance crews. They had work to do but they really should shut down their work on the sand traps when golfers are playing the hole. I had nobody in front of me or begging me, it would have been nice if they shut the noise down for the 5 minutes it took me to play the hole.

Driving Range closed
the driving range was closed, except to members. This was especially unfortunate considering how remote the course's location is. We weren't informed of the range status until after we had arrived an hour early. We did get refunded immediately, however.

Nice track
First run at this track. Was a wet and cold day, but still was playable. Nice views of the Neuse, up and down some hills, and had to hit it both ways for better angles. They might install some bells on a few holes, because several blind tee shots where you might land it on someone’s head. We debated and waited, which was awkward. Especially with group behind us sitting in carts staring. What to do except make sure the group in front was gone. A few gettable par 5s were fun and $30 hot rate was exceptional. With carts on path it was 4.5 hours, which is fine. Overall, with firm greens this would be fun to play and props for elevation changes and the Neuse views.

Nice layout, decent walk
Winter conditions are a bit sloppy, quite muddy in spots. The course overall is in good shape. Walking is good, with only two or three distances btw holes long. Course winds through a mature single-fam home development. Good value.

Need starter
Over all, the course was in really good shape for how much rain we have had. The course did not have a starter, nor were there any marshals throughout the day.Staff inside should of had a better handle on the first tee box. Why would you put a single behind two foursomes and a fivesome? Asked to start off early, or off the back, denied on both. Members were seen driving their carts in the fairways. which were wet, when it was cart path only, but staff did not seem to want to address it.

Good for a weekend round
All courses in NC are very wet right now. Although course was soaked it has a great challenging layout for a mid handicapper. Course amenities are sub-par. Overall it was a 3 to 3.5 star experience and I will go back.
