About
Neuse Golf Club was ranked as one of the best public golf courses in North Carolina, second only to Pinehurst. The layout winds along the Neuse River across rolling hills that are dotted with rocky outcroppings. Towering, mature pines accent the landscape as well, especially along the fairways. Each hole provides a dramatically different challenge and unique scenery. Views of the winding river can be enjoyed on almost every hole. A variety of bunkers and doglegs are strategically placed throughout the golf course, demanding both accuracy and thoughtful strategy. The design closely follows the natural contours of the hilly terrain. Dramatic elevation changes guarantee that flat lies will be hard to find. The golf course is no easy feat but the beautiful scenery and interesting hole designs will appeal to any player.

Sunday golf round
The course was in fair condition. Pace of play was slow. We didn’t know they were finishing the course member member tournament. They had a 1 hour frost delay which they can’t control I realize. I do feel they could have run some of the players off tenth hole to speed up pace of play. Unfortunately we had to quit on the 15 hole after teeing off at 12:52pm tee time. Otherwise overall satisfied with the staff and the course conditions. Will play again but make sure they aren’t having a tournament the day of play.

4hours to play nine holes.
Horrible time management. They overbook tee times and there is no ranger to assist starting.

Trying to charge more for a cart
If you paid a cart fee for 18 holes, you should not be charged an extra 18 bucks to ride in a cart by yourself. Definitely not in a pandemic. It wasn't crowded, but when you see no one wearing mask in the club house and laughing about being a "Red County" says a lot about the staffing. I will never play there again.

Fun course nice pace of play
Great course layout. Lots of elevation making shorter par 4's more of a challenge. Nice neighborhood, club house, driving range. All around a fun place to play

Pace of Play Not Impressive
I've played The Neuse for 25+ years.....it's my favorite course in the Raleigh area. Don't know what happened today (a Friday) but it took us 5 hrs 10 min to complete the round! There was a group ahead that was apparently playing from the wrong tees, spending too much time looking for balls in the leaves or just didn't care they were holding up the course.....got me!
Course is a little damp from all the rain in Nov. but overall in very good condition. I'll be back....hopefully without that foursome ahead of me....we usually play Neuse in 4 hrs during the week.

No one monitoring pace of play
Just finished a 5 hr round. Cart path only and waterlogged so I knew it would be slow but no ranger monitoring.
Group of yahoos ahead of us had been pounding beers and often seen stumbling. I am all for a good time but when it affects pace of play - you need to pick up and move on.
Clubhouse essentially a superspreader den with NO One wearing masks or keeping any distance.
Glad that The Neuse doesn’t have to worry about COVID. Really kind of shameful.

Course was in great shape. Greens were challenging! Special recognition to the starter. I left my prescription lens and clip ons on the range. When he was making his rounds on the course, I stopped and asked if anyone may have turned them in, I'll pick them up at the turn. He drove them out to me. Made the game easier. Thank you!
