Neuse Golf Club was ranked as one of the best public golf courses in North Carolina, second only to Pinehurst. The layout winds along the Neuse River across rolling hills that are dotted with rocky outcroppings. Towering, mature pines accent the landscape as well, especially along the fairways. Each hole provides a dramatically different challenge and unique scenery. Views of the winding river can be enjoyed on almost every hole. A variety of bunkers and doglegs are strategically placed throughout the golf course, demanding both accuracy and thoughtful strategy. The design closely follows the natural contours of the hilly terrain. Dramatic elevation changes guarantee that flat lies will be hard to find. The golf course is no easy feat but the beautiful scenery and interesting hole designs will appeal to any player.

Good round

It was really hot today. Pace is a bit slow but I am not gonna complain. Course is good condition. The guy in the shop is very friendly but the starter is so so.

Great Wednesday for Golf

Course was challenging and being on a Wednesday, in the middle of the day, there were very few hold ups as we played at a good pace. Water coolers were empty but all in all, it was a great course to play.

One of my favorites in the area

Always in good shape, I really like The Neuse. The fairways and greens were in good shape. Pace could have been a little faster, but overall, a great day on the golf course.

Great course!

Course was in pretty good condition, greens were still sandy from a month ago, but the rest of the course was in great condition! Can’t beat the price with the hot deal and staff was great

Decent but probably won’t play again

This course came recommended by a friend who has played a number of them in the area. I had a 3:16 tee time as a 1-some, got there around 2:00 but the course wasn’t busy so the pro shop said to just go off whenever. Would have appreciated any kind of warning that their practice range was closed. Nothing on facebook, nothing on GN. I hate warming up during the round because it makes for a frustrating front 9 (and a waste of money), so this was a major disappointment. Small bucket of balls is $7, gatorades are $4. The course layout is nice, fairways were in good shape with some obvious wear in commonly hit areas. Played the blacks here and found it was still too short. I carry about 280 and Par 5s were reachable in 2, par 4s mostly played driver-wedge however a few required a 7,8, or 9. In general the course is relatively unforgiving of errant tee shots with dense thorny brush or backyards lining each hole. Major disappointment number-whatever, I made the turn about 4:30 and the grill was closed. Not sure if that’s standard for the course. Pace of play left much to be desired, especially for a not busy day. No course marshall out meant groups were taking their sweet sweet time. I waited behind a three-some of teenagers for most of the front nine, then a pair of younger guys who were playing (poorly) about 5 balls each for most of the back 9. Give me a break! I can’t imaging what this place is like on a weekend. Greens were sandy, and although that’s preferable to aerated they still were a bit meh. Practice green was in good shape, fast rolls, but the course greens played hard but moderate pace. Overall I’d probably skip this unless it’s a hot deal <$20.

Best course around Raleigh

This course is the best test of golf in Raleigh. You have to put the ball in the right place, control your ball flight and be a long hitter. If you are patient and plot your way around, scoring opportunities are there. Best Club Corps course in NC

Great Course For the Price

I always like to play this course. It’s challenging but doesn’t feel punishing for a high-handicap player like myself. The pace of play is always good here. I would’ve given all 5 stars but they aerated the greens recently so they were not in the bet shape. Highly recommend to anybody in the area.

Great layout

Great course and layout. Greens were airaited the week before, so a little slow and bumpy. Once they grow back in it should be a gem!! Will definitely be back to play many future rounds.

Punched and sanded greens

Disappointed that the course had punched and sanded greens and a high price.. Course was in great shape otherwise and the round was enjoyable, but I would not have paid $65 to play if I knew the greens were still recovering.

A heads up would of been nice

After playing here last August, I’ve been longing to come back. I got on golf now and saw a $12 tee time and snatched it up; if ever there was a time of the old adage “too good to be true” to be applicable it was now. As I drove up to the course I caught a peek of the fairway and the rough, the fairways looked amazing, but the greens were sandy. I thought to myself, oh well, could be worse. I will preface to say that I expected cart path only, this was the only expected drawback. I drove from over an hr away, go inside. Practice facilities closed, back nine only, play it twice. Greens are aerated and sanded. So much sand, flags would get laid on the greens near the cup because the sand was so built up in the bottom of the cup. It was frustrating because no where do they warn or advise people of the terrible conditions for the day. I came across a group of guys who had a tournament there the following day, and cancelled it saying it was not going to competitive and they too wished they would of gotten at least a heads up at the clubhouse. I wouldn’t of paid $1 to play there that day, as a figure of speech. Let alone $12. Next time I’ll make sure it’s playable before I waste my time and money.

Overpriced

Today I played the nuese and paid way to much money to get out to the first green and realize they had been aerated.

On top of this I bought a drink in the snack bar only to realize later they only give free refills to members. Who charges $2.75 for a soda then doesn’t allow refills. What a joke.

I normally like this course but I will be opting for better courses closer to raleigh next time. If I am going to pay raleigh prices I better get raleigh quality.

Aeration

We knew they had an aeration alert on golf now, but we’re not told until we got to the course that the front nine were closed and we had to play the back nine twice. This caused extremely slow pace of play and they just dumped a ton of sand on the greens in random spots, made for extremely hard putting. Worst experience I’ve had at this course. Should have given a discount or something with such terrible greens

Really wet and unplayable

This is normally a really great course. It should have been course under repair the green are really sandy, the fairway really wet and you could only play the back nine twice I quit after nine holes because it was not worth a second time around. I wouldn’t recommend playing this course until the end of July at the earliest good luck
