The Neuse Golf Club

I enjoyed:

1) Course Layout

2) Greens were rolling well

3) Staff really made every effort to help

I did not enjoy:

1) Overbooking my tee-time and coincidentally four members had the same time?

2) Lack of enforcement—-the course knowingly allowed a group of four to play with two sets of clubs. We were notified that there were supposed to be two people playing and two people “watching.” Again the “members” are in charge and the course though it would be suitable to charge the other two rounds of golf to the member. At least that is what they told our group.

3) Clear overuse of tee boxes—-the signature hole had half of the white tee box as sand from the divots.

In short, I am happy I finally played the course but I really do not see a strong need to go back.

Turf conditions are excellent! Traps not much so. After heavy rain the previous day, many traps are still ponds or hard pan. Nevertheless, playing for the first time, it impresses in layout, challenge level, etc. I’ll be back!

This course is visually gorgeous and the conditions were outstanding. Lush with true rolling, well maintained greens. Though it is a bit far for me, I still expect I will return!

I'm from Arizona where most courses are flat and have very little character. This course is absolutely beatifull, in great shape with very challenging hole design. Most tee shots are blind and there are very fee flat lies. Only issue would be geriatrics that are really overmatched on this course and so they are very slow and are as much a challenge as the course itself. Played 18 in 4.5 hours behind a geriatric 4 some.

It was really hot today. Pace is a bit slow but I am not gonna complain. Course is good condition. The guy in the shop is very friendly but the starter is so so.

Course was challenging and being on a Wednesday, in the middle of the day, there were very few hold ups as we played at a good pace. Water coolers were empty but all in all, it was a great course to play.

Always in good shape, I really like The Neuse. The fairways and greens were in good shape. Pace could have been a little faster, but overall, a great day on the golf course.

Course was in pretty good condition, greens were still sandy from a month ago, but the rest of the course was in great condition! Can’t beat the price with the hot deal and staff was great

My wife and I played this course for the first time. We were very impressed. Course was in good shape. Layout was challenging but fair. Conditions were good. We will definitely be back.

This course came recommended by a friend who has played a number of them in the area. I had a 3:16 tee time as a 1-some, got there around 2:00 but the course wasn’t busy so the pro shop said to just go off whenever. Would have appreciated any kind of warning that their practice range was closed. Nothing on facebook, nothing on GN. I hate warming up during the round because it makes for a frustrating front 9 (and a waste of money), so this was a major disappointment. Small bucket of balls is $7, gatorades are $4. The course layout is nice, fairways were in good shape with some obvious wear in commonly hit areas. Played the blacks here and found it was still too short. I carry about 280 and Par 5s were reachable in 2, par 4s mostly played driver-wedge however a few required a 7,8, or 9. In general the course is relatively unforgiving of errant tee shots with dense thorny brush or backyards lining each hole. Major disappointment number-whatever, I made the turn about 4:30 and the grill was closed. Not sure if that’s standard for the course. Pace of play left much to be desired, especially for a not busy day. No course marshall out meant groups were taking their sweet sweet time. I waited behind a three-some of teenagers for most of the front nine, then a pair of younger guys who were playing (poorly) about 5 balls each for most of the back 9. Give me a break! I can’t imaging what this place is like on a weekend. Greens were sandy, and although that’s preferable to aerated they still were a bit meh. Practice green was in good shape, fast rolls, but the course greens played hard but moderate pace. Overall I’d probably skip this unless it’s a hot deal <$20.

This course is the best test of golf in Raleigh. You have to put the ball in the right place, control your ball flight and be a long hitter. If you are patient and plot your way around, scoring opportunities are there. Best Club Corps course in NC

Only paid $30 for a sunday morning tee time. Pace of play was a little slow but weather was perfect so lots of golfers out. Cart girl was friendly and quick around the course.

Great course! Best in the area!!!

I always like to play this course. It’s challenging but doesn’t feel punishing for a high-handicap player like myself. The pace of play is always good here. I would’ve given all 5 stars but they aerated the greens recently so they were not in the bet shape. Highly recommend to anybody in the area.

Other than sandy greens.. it’s the best course around

Great course and layout. Greens were airaited the week before, so a little slow and bumpy. Once they grow back in it should be a gem!! Will definitely be back to play many future rounds.
