About
Neuse Golf Club was ranked as one of the best public golf courses in North Carolina, second only to Pinehurst. The layout winds along the Neuse River across rolling hills that are dotted with rocky outcroppings. Towering, mature pines accent the landscape as well, especially along the fairways. Each hole provides a dramatically different challenge and unique scenery. Views of the winding river can be enjoyed on almost every hole. A variety of bunkers and doglegs are strategically placed throughout the golf course, demanding both accuracy and thoughtful strategy. The design closely follows the natural contours of the hilly terrain. Dramatic elevation changes guarantee that flat lies will be hard to find. The golf course is no easy feat but the beautiful scenery and interesting hole designs will appeal to any player.

Triangle hidden gem
The Nuese is an extremely good golf course for the south triangle area (Clayton/Garner area). Conditions are always solid from tee to green. Rounds can be slow especially on the weekends as they don’t employ rangers.
That said, I thoroughly enjoy the challenging layout and consistently good conditions.
Lastly,...buy a hotdog at the turn, you won’t be disappointed for the $5.
Local excellence
Excellent staff. Excellent course. Excellent layout. Excellent conditions. Best course I’ve played in the Johnston County area and I’ve played them all. They’re offering memberships at a very affordable rate right now. Seriously considering joining. Outstanding in every way!

Greens are back. Fairways in great shape. Great bang for the buck!!
Great course and conditions, but needs a ranger
The course was packed when we showed up for our 2pm tee time. Our twosome was told to join a single that was making his way to the tee. At the tee, another twosome joined and told us they were also being added so we played as 5. This wasn’t a problem because everyone was decent and played quickly. Finished the first 9 in just over two hours despite the number of people.
The problem was that as we made the turn, a foursome came out of nowhere (they were not ahead of us or behind us the previous nine) and jumped in front of us on 10. They had little experience and were clearly not capable of keeping pace. They didn’t offer to let us play through, but were playing over a hole behind the group ahead of them. The course needs someone driving around and pushing people like this. Second nine took 3:30 s not ok.

Course in great shape!!!
The best greens I have played on in a while. Overall course conditions were very good - a few tee boxes are a bit bare of grass. Good place to go play right now.
Nice (difficult) course
The course was in immaculate shape. Fairways and greens were in perfect shape. Bring plenty of extra balls though!
Nice conditions
Very nice course. Greens are recovering from recent aerification but rolled nicely. Good mix of long and short holes. I really enjoyed my first time at The Neuse and will be back soon!
Tough Course = Good Fun
This is a tough course on any day, the extremely firm greens made it a challenge. Course really needs to ariate to gan some softness to the 11 month old new greens. More moisture on the greens and tee boxes couldn't hurt.
Overall enjoyable day!!!
A Great Course at a Great Price in Raleigh
The Neuse is a wonderful golf course. It is challenging and the terrain and layout are very different from hole to hole. The course is very well-maintained and the greens are wonderful and true.
If I lived closer than 750 miles away I'd become a member and play here all of the time.

The course is in the best shape of any public or semi private course in the triangle area!!!! The only course with grass in the fairway!!!!!!! I don’t know what they did different from all the other courses but they have grass!!!!!
Beautiful (but tough)
Course conditions (considering the 3-4” of rain we’d had the week before) were amazing.
Greens (new Bermuda) were firm but slow. Strange undulations too.
Pace of play always seems slow, but for a Sunday (and cart path only) 4 1/2 hrs was resonable.
One word of advice: score low on the front 9 ‘cause the back 9 can be brutal. I shot a 41 & a 47 (from the blue tees).
