The Neuse Golf Club

I've played the Neuse many times in the past, and although it's a 45 minute drive and I enjoy playing a variety of courses, I come back often because of the value and course conditions (which I marked "good" this time simply because the course is coming back from very rainy conditions in the last few weeks). This is definitely not a $28 experience. That's what I paid, but I'd value it as a $50 experience, even this time of year. The greens are bermuda, and they are very fast and roll very true. Other than the wet/soft spots in the pooling areas that are still drying up, the fairways are fairly lush for the last day of winter, and the cart rule was 90 degrees. Tee boxes are in pretty good shape on most holes, but there were a few tee markers set up on some distinct hills that either shouldn't be used, or better yet, should be flattened out a little. There were also about three tees where the markers were drastically skewed, pointing toward the houses or trees (which I fixed myself, so if you played after me, you're welcome). Rough is thin this time of year, but playable. The clubhouse is well-maintained, and the staff is very friendly, including offering a discounted replay ($20 instead of $25) which I took advantage of. Pace of play was very good, especially as a single. I played both rounds (with cart) at 2 hrs 30 mins, and the few groups that I ran into allowed me to play through. If you haven't played here, you're definitely missing out.

One of my favorite courses to play, Fairways were wet but that was to be expected, Greens in perfect condition as always. At the turn, we like to pick up a few beers. Took the cooler from the cart in and ordered 6 Bud Lites and used the rest room while the order was being filled. $22.50 for 6 beers??????? Lady said management raised the prices. .Freaking' ridiculous. This will definitely deter future play at this course or will have to break the rules and bring our own.

The course was in good condition considering all the rain we have had lately. the greens were as always in great shape. We made the turn and we like to have a few beers on the back nine. $22.75 for 6 Bud Lights!!!!! Are you flippin' kidding me? I have been a regular player at here but no longer.

Good layout on course but conditions are horrible right now. As are most courses in the area but I wouldn’t suggest play for the next week or so

Very nice layout, not overly hard but challenging. Overall, one of best public courses in region.

Course was in great shape as always. Can't say enough about how great the greens are. The are consistent and really roll true.. Will play the Neuse again as soon as possible.

The course was in good shape we have been receiving a lot of rain lately but other than that it was terrific. The pace of play was a lot better than expected play with a good threesome Jim, bill & Steve. They could really hit the ball especially Steve his game was pro level. Hope to come back when it dry up

I play out at the Neuse about once every two to three months and love the course. The staff are friendly and it is an awesome value. The conditions were wet and some of the bunkers were lakes. Once spring rolls around they are going to have to spend some time getting them back into shape. Overall what a great way to take advantage of a warm day in January.

Good course.. bad staff etiquette. They rolled right up next to the green while I was putting. This needs to be addressed.

Very challenging and picturesque you will need to use all your clubs

The Neuse is a great course with fantastic Bermuda greens and rolling hills. It's challenging but fair. It's a super value.

The course is in great shape and the course layout is fun to play. I would highly recommend this course to everyone.

What can I say. The corsevwasin perfect shape. Our Foursome played in less then 4 hours

Course is in great condition, a few soft spots in fairways due to recent weather but that’s the only complaint I had, course plays a bit longer than the card states due to a lot of uphill par 4’s. Love the layout, you get to use most of the clubs in your bag and it calls for a variety of shot shapes, everything you need to keep it interesting!!
