The Neuse Golf Club
About
Neuse Golf Club was ranked as one of the best public golf courses in North Carolina, second only to Pinehurst. The layout winds along the Neuse River across rolling hills that are dotted with rocky outcroppings. Towering, mature pines accent the landscape as well, especially along the fairways. Each hole provides a dramatically different challenge and unique scenery. Views of the winding river can be enjoyed on almost every hole. A variety of bunkers and doglegs are strategically placed throughout the golf course, demanding both accuracy and thoughtful strategy. The design closely follows the natural contours of the hilly terrain. Dramatic elevation changes guarantee that flat lies will be hard to find. The golf course is no easy feat but the beautiful scenery and interesting hole designs will appeal to any player.

Great course
What can I say. The corsevwasin perfect shape. Our Foursome played in less then 4 hours
Nice
Course is in great condition, a few soft spots in fairways due to recent weather but that’s the only complaint I had, course plays a bit longer than the card states due to a lot of uphill par 4’s. Love the layout, you get to use most of the clubs in your bag and it calls for a variety of shot shapes, everything you need to keep it interesting!!
Great layout
What a tremendous assortment of fun and creative holes. Nice greens too.
One of if not the best the Triangle has to offer
The Neuse is a beautiful course....amazing scenic views, level changes, beautiful fairways, reasonable rough and above average greens! Too 3 in the Triangle...it’s atoss up between the Neuse, Lonnie Poole and Finley for me...can’t quite call it! Club house and proshop are top notch and the staff were great! A must play, a little long from the blues, makes the par 3’s especially tough! Excellent!!!!!!
Great conditions.
Overall great conditions. Two bunkers had standing water in them. Except that, conditions were great. Greens were not lighting fast but not too slow either.
Best GolfNow value in the area
Love this layout. A great mix of short and long holes. Interesting terrain changes. Excellent condition. Week-in week-out, the best golf value for the money in the NC Triangle on GolfNow.
Great day at the Neuse
Great course for the money - especially with the GolfNow discount.. The entire course was in great shape.
Pace of play was good, even though the club championship was played that morning. The staff is very friendly and professional.
One of my favorite courses in the area. Fun, fair course with a few challenging holes.
Warn people if you have a club championship going kn
I love the conditions and the layout of the course. I don’t make the 45 minute drive here much because, well it’s 45 minutes.
Today sucked. SUCKED
I wouldn’t of booked knowing that we were the first group out following the last group of the club championship.
For 5 hours we had to watch 5-6 people play and observe 16 of the 18 holes we were behind them. Whoever decided to place the pins today has obviously never played golf. The flags were in all the wrong places. I know it’s the championship, but pros couldn’t get some shots close. Shame on the person who decided there placement. It made for a very long, very frustrating, unnecessary day. I won’t be in a rush to go back, which is a shame.
PGA setup
I really wanted to love this course. The layout is good, but pretty tight. OB stakes everywhere. Premium on finding the fairway off the tee, as scrambling is impossible. My issue was where the pins were cut. All of them were maybe 3 yards of the fringe, maybe, or right on a ridge. 16 was on a ridge 10 feet on the front, and I was 2 inches shy of the hole and it rolled back 5 feet off the green..twice. I enjoy a challenge, but it was brutal today.
Great course, looking forward to returning
Just moved to Raleigh after 20 years in the Virginia Beach area and I've been hearing people say this is their favorite public course in/around Raleigh. Now I can see why. Great layout, challenges everywhere, and yet most of the time there's room for error. Course was in great shape -- fairways, greens and bunkers. No one in our foursome had played the course before, and there are many holes where a bit of experience will be helpful -- blind or semi-blind shots. My one gripe was with the pace of play. We teed off about 11:30 a.m. on a Sunday, and were told to play the front in 2:10 and the back in 2:20. Our round stretched to over five hours as we waited on virtually every tee box. Didn't see a marshal ... or a beverage cart. But I'll definitely go back. Soon.
Play the Neuse!
The Neuse is in great shape. Pace of play was slow but this course is in fantastic shape. Tough course but very fair. Highly recommend his course but definitely bring your A game.
Great value but agonizingly slow.
First of all, I'm a golf course snob. I admit it. I hadn't played The Neuse in years and decided to give it a shot since my favorite courses are all being aerated. I found a deal on Golfnow for $16 with fees. How crazy is that?
I enjoy the layout at The Neuse but the greens were punched a week ago and were still slow and bouncy. The biggest problem with a $16 green fee is the caliber of player you get paired up with. One of the guys that joined me today declared on the first tee that he is "really getting into golfing". Uh oh. The other guy couldn't see 50 yards ahead of him and we were constantly taking him to his ball and providing yardages. "This way Mr. Haversham".
I normally play 18 holes with my foursome in 3 1/2 hours. This took 5. It was dreadful and the rangers don't care.
Again, There are many great risk reward holes and the greens are often in very good shape. Just be prepared to spend your entire day finding Easter eggs for your partners.
Great course!
This is the third time I've played this course in the last couple years. It's in great condition particularly given all the rain and other weather we've had recently. I look forward to returning.
