The Neuse Golf Club
About
Neuse Golf Club was ranked as one of the best public golf courses in North Carolina, second only to Pinehurst. The layout winds along the Neuse River across rolling hills that are dotted with rocky outcroppings. Towering, mature pines accent the landscape as well, especially along the fairways. Each hole provides a dramatically different challenge and unique scenery. Views of the winding river can be enjoyed on almost every hole. A variety of bunkers and doglegs are strategically placed throughout the golf course, demanding both accuracy and thoughtful strategy. The design closely follows the natural contours of the hilly terrain. Dramatic elevation changes guarantee that flat lies will be hard to find. The golf course is no easy feat but the beautiful scenery and interesting hole designs will appeal to any player.

JoCo Golf
Best golf course in Johnston County. Customer service is great and the course was in great shape. They need to give a class to that course around the corner from them on how to maintain grass and greens along with customer service. worth the drive to play this course.
New Greens
Played the golf course for the first time today since the new greens have been installed and i must say this was the best thing that could have been done to this golf course. Of course since they are new you could still see some of the sand base layer and they were a little bumpy but within a month once they can put the mowers out and roll the greens they will be PERFECT! The only issue that i had today was that there was no starter or ranger at 2 pm on a sunday. This caused a huge back up on the tee box so there were alternating groups of twosomes and foursomes which really slowed play on the front nine. once they get the staff back from the closure the pace of play will be better. all in all i enjoyed the day and the golf course was in wonderful shape. planning to play the neuse amateur invitational and can not wait to play a tournament on those greens!!
Wouldn't recommend based on last experience
I've been anxiously waiting play this course for over 2 months as they were supposedly getting new greens installled. I called Friday August 25 to see if the course had been completed. This person said yes. He failed to tell me the greens had been sanded and that greens weren't in good playing conditions. Additionally the water coolers hadn't been replaced as some were empty and others were warm. I was pretty ticked off by the conditions and wished they had informed me as I paid $52 to play this course-definitely not worth it. I wouldn't have played it for free. As far as the so called new greens-they looked awful! I won't my money back!
Fantastic Course
This is fantastic course. They have just opened new greens as of the writing of this review, so they were more sand than grass, but the layout of the course and the need for strategy more than made up for that. In a couple of months, those greens will be at peak and I'll be back to play again for sure.
Greens
New greens open. But they were uncut and completely topdressed with sand. Should have been noted they were not 100% playable.
Fairways impeccable. Tees perfect. Rough was lush. Very nice. Can't wait for greens to be 100%.
Need water in the coolers on the course.
Needs 1-2 weeks
The greens were top dressed and not quite ready. They looked solid, but need a week or two. I think the new greens will really make this course, which is a fabulous layout.
The rough is too penalizing. I'm a good player and strong. But at one point, It was all I could do to hit a gap wedge (115-130 yard club) 70 yards. I watched balls lost/nearly lost several times in this rough. The 12 year old kid in the group had to wedge sideways out of the stuff.
Admittedly, I did not play well at all. That was not the rough, but me. Still, the rough was sticky enough for a major championship. It certainly was worse than the typical PGA tour event played in Bermuda (Wyndham).
Amazing and challenging course
I read the reveiws about the greens being taken down but they are up and full speed . This is one of the best golf courses that i have played . I have played all over the united states and this ranks at the top. Best scenery since the time i played in Kuai . greens are fast too .
Great Course
It"s had been a long time since I had played this course. Such a terrific layout. The new greens are spectacular. They ere top dressing some of the greens in preparation for the grand reopening . This is one of my favorite courses and should be one of yours.
Great Course
Better Without Temp Greens. Price was right, but temporary greens were not to cool. Would love to play under normal conditions. Played Blue tees shot 84. Two par 3s were closed. Course in great shape except for temp greens and a couple of blind shots from not knowing course and where to land ball.
Would play again and recommend to play.
This course has a nice layout.
First time I ever shot a 73 in my life I love this course I'll be back with friends !
Tempory Greens
When I booked I did no see the fine print that the greens were being done. It was temporary greens. I will not play there again until the greens are restored. It should be in bolder letters about the greens on your posting!
Swindled
All of the greens were being redone and temporary greens were situated in the fairways.
I did not complete the round because I felt they should have advertised the course maintenance to give a prospective golfer a choice not to play this course until the work is completed.
not worth visiting - under major course repairs
After 1 hr drive to get to course only to find that they had "NO" greens - they are in process of replacing them - no practice greens either- all this should have been noted at reservation time - only note was supposed "aeration" Driving range was also closed.
Not worth the trip, waste of time.
Greens are being rebuilt
There is no advisory on golfnow, but the greens are being changed from bentgrass to mini-verde. There are temporary greens with 8" cups, but it's not great. The fairways are nice though. Not sure how long it will be until the greens are playable.
Greens slick as ice, but they are killing them off to replace
I wish I wold have known they are in the process of killing off their greens in order to replace them. They were slick as ice. Literally I put my putter down a few times to line up a put and put weight on it and it slipped out below me. They rolled smooth but you couldnt keep anything below a PW to stick and any downhiller would roll of the green. There should have been a notice when booking. Also the PACE of play was the worst I have seen in a while. They had a started but no one riding through to keep it up. Once the new Greens are DONE it should be back to a 4 star rating if they can get a ranger/ keep up pace of play
Transition
course is transitioning over to Bermuda greens - plans to reopen 9/1/17. Temporary greens in play sometime next week. Next year - when I go back to play it again, I expect to find an even better Neuse course than it is today - which is quite a statement. This is a great layout with many challenging holes - the addition of bermuda greens is going to make this one terrific course. Lets hope that greens-fees do not skyrocket with the new greens. $7 for a small bucket of range balls is already pretty high. Was disappointed that there were no rangers and no beverage cart on Memorial Day weekend. 5 hour round - too long!!!
Greens to be Replaced
Neuse is my favorite course in the RTP area. The layout is a blast for mid-handicappers....10 - 16. Thankfully, they are changing their greens from Bent to Bermuda in June 2017. They expect to reopen Labor Day with the new greens. Great layout, fairways are very good, rough not too high. They will have temp. greens thru the summer.....looking forward to playing there again In late Sept. Don't stay away from Neuse during the transition....it could be set up to be great for introducing new players to golf.....like lots of par 3's and short par 4's.

First Round
Very interesting course with lots of topography. Greens were relatively fast. Will certainly go back and play it again. Really nice course.
for the rate we got it was almost unfair! this is a top of the line course in great condition.
