The Neuse Golf Club

Just a heads up to all who may not know as of yet the greens on most of central NC golf courses has been completely decimated by the extreme heat/humidity of the summer. The Neuse is no exception and there is very little green on the surfaces but lots of sand & aeration holes.

The good news? The temps are cooling and fall is almost here so for a few months (until winter kill) there may be decent putting again soon.

Nice layout here though and still a fun track to play for the GN deal price,

This course had a great layout. The overall conditions were average. Bunkers don't seem to be managed really, and the greens were struggling due to the recent heat. I am excited to try this place again once the weather cools. Booked via a golf app however the course hadn't posted that it was having a morning tournament so the pace of play was bad. Poor communication by the course.

Nice looking course.but playing it is a different story..The fairways are wide but the low cut is about 40 yds. wide.If your tee shot lands just a few feet from the shortcut..good luck on finding it in 4" Bermuda grass.If you find it .good luck on hitting out of it,,Also the greens are in terrible shape..Expected a lot more..

Very good and challenging layout. Greens were slower than anticipated but are true. Some thin spots but hold well . many ball marks not being repaired!

Nice course staff great however took 5 hours to play 13 holes quit after that due to slow play

Except for it being hot, which couldn't be helped, we had a great experience playing Neuse for the first time. It has plenty of challenges especially the greens. They are big with lots of undulations-very challenging. The course was in excellent shape overall.

Was totally surprised to find all greens were covered with top dressing sand. There was no evidence of aeration having been lately. There was no mention of aeration or alert when tee time was booked.

Hot Deal on Golf Now brought. Excellent staff and facilities. Challenging tee shots and rough made the course a true test for any golfer. Fairways were in superior condition and the course has very challenging Par 3 holes. I will definitely play this course again.

Very well maintained, track was fantastic only issue we had was bad rain night before and it was cart path only and course is hilly. Not there fault.

Excellent layout, well maintained and challenging in spots. For a course that is played often , the greens were meticulous and overall course condition was better than expected in the high traffic month of July. This course is a jewel and I will definitely be back.

The only change I would make would be to have a beverage cart on the course. There may be one on the weekends (I played on a Friday afternoon), however that will not deter my return and that should not be viewed as a deal breaker.

Did not play there much, but not my first time. had problems finding the tee box for one of the par threes. drove around in a circle a couple of times until I found it and watching from the green and young kid greenskeeper drives up to me and ask how long I have been playing golf, trying to make me look stupid in front of my girlfriend.I lived on a golf course and played in N.Y for 20 years. He said it is a rule on every golf course that there is no driving off the car path on par threes, something I never herd of. But he made it clear that I was the idiot that never herd of this in front of my lady. Well I played with people that ran the golf course in NY and recently played in another course on a par 3 in NC and there is a sign that says carts this way in front of the green. The kid could learn some manners, right or wrong.

From the Tees to the Fairways to the Greens, one word AWESOME! Those greens, beautiful Bentgrass greens, big in size, they do not get any better than these!! Whomever the Superintendant is, he knows what he is doing. The whole course was so well manicured! As they say, "it's all in the details", & they got this one right. It is the best conditioned course we have played this year! Enough said!!!

Course is in great shape staff is friendly only thing that could be better is a refreshment cart on the course

Excellent fairways...like carpet. Greens had been sanded and fertilized but still were fairly quick and rolled true. Definitely want to play here again.

Played on Father's Day and even though course was busy pace of play was excellent. Waited on a few shots here and there but never to the point it was a problem. Course was in fantastic shape. Worth more than the $36 I snagged on GolfNow for a Sunday midday tee time. Sure, it is a haul from Durham to get out there but I have yet to play out there and be disappointed.

Went to play 18. Got to first tee to find 2 groups waiting to go off, 20 minutes past their tee times, and learned that the course had just let a shotgun event go off on the course before all our tee times. This slowed everything down to a crawl. Took almost 3 hours to play front nine. Elected to stop playing after that. Course in excellent shape, but the layout is truly quirky. Very severe up and down hill holes. Many blind shots. Some long distances between greens and next tees, making this really not a walkers course. Great driving range and putting green. Will not go back.

Haven't played here in a couple of years. Took my wife to a "nice course" .... it was in great shape. However, she wasn't having a good day and the challenges on this course may have been a bit too much. Having said that, I really like the Nuesse. And the course was in great shape. Wonderful afternoon of golf.

This course was a nice layout & good shape. The only bad thing was the greens had just been aerated. Good pace of play.

The Neuse is now possibly my favorite course in the Raleigh-Durham area. it has elevation changes, hazards, long distance, and the need to play safe shots more often than most. I highly recommend this course to any and everyone. It offers a good pace of play, and a very challenging course for a of a heck deal. 5+ stars!
