The Neuse Golf Club
About
Neuse Golf Club was ranked as one of the best public golf courses in North Carolina, second only to Pinehurst. The layout winds along the Neuse River across rolling hills that are dotted with rocky outcroppings. Towering, mature pines accent the landscape as well, especially along the fairways. Each hole provides a dramatically different challenge and unique scenery. Views of the winding river can be enjoyed on almost every hole. A variety of bunkers and doglegs are strategically placed throughout the golf course, demanding both accuracy and thoughtful strategy. The design closely follows the natural contours of the hilly terrain. Dramatic elevation changes guarantee that flat lies will be hard to find. The golf course is no easy feat but the beautiful scenery and interesting hole designs will appeal to any player.

Signature Holes !
A great layout. I've played this course many times over the last 16 years, and I keep coming back for more. Hole 14 might be the designated signature hole but # 13, 17, 8, 9 & 10 could easily stand in for it.
I believe golf courses need to make playing more fun, especially if their going to attract new players and retain us boomers as we continue to age. I was glad to see junior markers in the fairways. But, you need another set of tee's that will average 4600 to 4800 yds. for seniors that only drive 175 to 200yds. These players should have the opportunity to hit some short irons into the greens. And, let's start promoting playing it forward for newby's and seniors, so we can all have fun and speed up play.
Fun
Great course; fun to play!
Best Course to play for your money
The Neuse is by far the best course to play for your money...weekends included! The course is challenging for the lower handicappers and fun and fare for the higher handicappers, as the course plays noticeably easier from the white tees, as opposed from the blue tees. I play this course all the time because of the price and the condition.
Fun @ Neuse
First time there, would recommend as a higher end public course. Good shape, some aesthetic views & your should put on your radar. Went as a 3-some & paired with a nice gent that was able to provide some local knowledge (which was very helpful). Some of the holes a little tricky but overall fair. Definitely worth the price & drive from RDU area.
Top notch and great value
Awesome course. If you can get it on a deal it's by far the best course around in the Raleigh Durham area for the money and actually it's well worth the price not on a deal. After playing probably 7 different courses this month I went out there and honestly took a sigh of relief because I realized this is what a course should look like. Fairways are awesome and greens are great. You can really tell they take care of this course.
My new local haunt
The Neuse is a very good course with a really nice layout. For my latest visit, I rated conditions as a 2 (fair) because they lost the fringe around every green. They're all aerated (just the fringe, not the greens) and pretty heavily sanded. I have full confidence that they'll bring them back but groups looking to book a round there should know the present condition as it does affect play, particularly when attempting to putt from the fringe.
Greens are a touch rough for bent grass for this time of year, especially considering the mild winter. But they're not bad at all, just not as good as they were in the fall. Tee-boxes and fairways are all very good.
Even with the highlighted issues, it's not nearly enough to keep me away as I played there three times just this past week. In a couple/few weeks, all should be perfect.
Brutal, but fun as well
Wow a beauty for sure. Extremely difficult course but the asthetics made it worth it. Some of the greens were a bit hinky and it was a bit wet making it longer this day. If you want to challenge every facet of your golf game, try this place out.
Great Course
Very nice view. Although the course is challenging it was still fun to play on.
Big fast greens
Great layout. Friendly staff. Aweome greens. Fast and rolled true.
A fine day on the neuse golf course
This was my first visit to this course. Nice course that was in great shape for the first f February.
I recommend the Neuse Hot Dog it was excellent. Played the second nine with two men who knew the course and that was helpful. I will be back.
Great Winter Round
Raleigh has had a great deal of rain in the last month, so we were very surprised at the quality of the course drainage. The staff was very helpful and allowed carts off the cart path which led to a quicker round. The greens were in super shape as were the fairways. Only a few tee boxes could use some TLC.
Wonderful December golf
Great golf in December is like an early Christmas present, so I was like a kid in a toy store all day yesterday. This was my first game at Neuse, and it was well worth the 45 min drive to get there. The course has a terrific layout, great variety from hole to hole, and very helpful staff. Overall the course was in terrific shape for December. Greens were nearly perfect, fairways brown but in good shape except for a few muddy sections in low areas. If you live nearby, you probably already know this is a great course. If you are from a bit further out and have not played here, I do recommend the effort. It will be worth it.
Great Course - Can be challenging
Very friendly staff. Joined a friendly duo - so was much fun and helped because they were used to the course. For the first timer -c an be challenging as you cannot see the lead up to most holes. The course is like an obstacle course - lots of obstacles. Fairways and greens were well maintained - a bit wet - drainage could be improved in certain areas. However thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Long but forgiving
A little too many hills for a senior but my son 30 years my junior had no issues
Interesting tract
Good value however "T" time was backed up at 12:30 pm. Unable to complete the round before dsrkness fell. Greens only okay, slow and too many bad areas having to putt through. Could be a cause from heavy rains of late. Tract is very interesting though very hilly with too many cart path only holes. A real problem for seniors.
A well equiped pro shop with excellent practice/ driving range area.
Great pre-winter conditions
Played on Friday the 13th, was a great day, 65 breezy, course is 4 plus conditions. Fairways still green with a little cushion to play off of. Greens 95%, a few rough places but didn't come into play for me. Surprised it wasn't busier for a Friday, played in 4:20. Well worth playing!
Great course...great value
I drive from Raleigh just to play this course. Its a great value for the price and the course is challenging. Highly recommend it!
Great layout
Even with recently punched greens this course was enjoyable to play. The rolling undulations of the course made for great shaped holes that made you pick and chose your shots wisely. The black tees challenged my length (7000) and the white tees were well placed for my fathers length (6000) .
I would love to go back to this course any time I am in the Raleigh area.
Always a great value
Played on a Saturday, Ranger and a starter kept things moving pretty well for the first 12 holes or so then it slowed down later in the afternoon. Fairways in good condition, some of the greens are hurting a bit. Great value and a good course. Well worth it.
The Neuse
The fairways and rough were better taken care of than any public course I've played in Raleigh-Durham. Greens had recently been punched so were grainy. Most holes are designed with a steep grade on either side of the fairway that can either help your shot or remove you from play. Lots of elevation change. Not too long but not too short. Doesn't demand extreme accuracy off the tee. Well-maintained. Great course.
