No difference between greens and fairways
I’ve played here a few times over the years. Never terrible
But Saturday’s tournament was a complete joke, hard to tell the difference between what they called fairways and greens
Greens were honestly the WORST I’ve ever seen. If you had a putt over 30’? You physically couldn’t hit it hard enough to reach the hole!
Probably should have chipped anything over 25’ I know they have to aerate but they’re horrible. I’d rather putt on my lawn!!
I’d say it was comical but $70 for my tournament was a complete RIPOFF!
Greens were at least 1/2” deep. Haven’t mowed in forever? Staff polite was really the only good thing. Call me in 5 years, maybe I’ll come back?
Nice and fun course to play
The couse is challenging and fun to play. The terrain has many The facilities are nice. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Greens were bumpy. What's going on with the ponds? Most, if not all, are covered with some type of algae. While the water features are an asset to the play, the murky algae condition detracts from the ambiance. Aside from these two concerns the course is fun to play.
Slow pkay
5 women were allowed to play as one group. By the eighth hole there were two holes behind.
in bad shape
we arrived at course and they closed the front nine that morning and sanded the greens and practice putting area ,was told to play the back nine twice , couldnt cancel because was paid in advance , all tee boxes were dirt no grass and were not level and fairways were patchy , the greens are very lumpy they dont role them at all ,its just in bad condition right now ,i hope they put some effort into cleaning it up and leveling the tee boxes and putting new grass on them. i dont recoment playing this for a couple months easily
The teeing ground should be a preferred lie!
Really disappointed with the condition of the tees at Auburn Valley. The fairways were a bit inconsistent but that is to expected in February. The greens were in excellent condition and rolled true. Hopefully, the tees will be addressed
Wouldn't go back won't recommend
Where's the start. We first had a tea time for 11:40 upon arrival our tea time was pushed back to 12:10. Was never notified however not the biggest deal, although we did have appointments in the afternoon/evening that was concerning. The driving range was more like a sand/gravel pit with dead grass. There was an area for a members only driving range which wasn't much better (we are not a member). But was not happy with that considering the price of tee time and the higher expectation of Auburn valley country club.
Pushing back our tee time and driving range aside we're here to play golf. The fairway And tee Boxes would be best described as a pitiful attempt to grow five different species of grass without water. Hard rocky fairways that have not been watered patchy grass was not in good condition at all. Greens were okay if you consider hitting a golf ball on a slab of concrete satisfactory. Greens were so hard even a well-placed conservative shot would bounce 10 ft in the air and roll 60 yd. I am all for difficult play however these were just greens that were not taken care of. At the end of the day not impressed with Auburn valley country club would have requested a refund if we were not on a time constraint. With dark horse, The ridge, And also Sierra nearby there are much better options.
Very good golf experience
I have played this course many times; for a couple of years it was my home course with the Nor Cal Golf Assn. It is challenging without being unfair with the possible exception of the 8th green; if you are above the hold even a few feet and the pin is anywhere but in the far back, good luck getting your ball to stop if it doesn't go in the hold short of 15 feet past the pin. And it's a narrow, very long green. Beautiful scenery and friendly staff. When I played in the NCGA events there, it was mostly members from when the course was a private club, but that's now over 15 years ago so I doubt the "attitudes" some of those folks had are still prevalent. Plus that wouldn't impact anyone playing a non tournament round. Generally well maintained. Some areas are tough to keep playable during winter but they do the best they can. Reasonably good value; my "hot deal" afternoon round recently was $33 with cart. (Don't try to walk more than nine holes unless you have a lot of stamina). Nice restaurant/bar, driving range and putting green. And they are one of the few courses which post covid will work with you on a hot deal to come out later than your scheduled time if it's not busy then. Many courses used to do that but inexplicably quit when covid came into play. You'd think they'd be more not less accommodating. It's a bit of a drive to get there, the last few miles of which are on a narrow road with some hairy curves but it's well worth it. .
Perfect weather and beautiful scenery.
Perfect spring weather is little breeze. Greens were fast enough to get the right rolling. Fairways had some damaged spots and unrepaired. Front 9 played in time but it was slow in the back nine due to overbooking and some beginning players. COVID-19 cautionary measures were in order.
Mostly friendly players and friendly playing environment. I will come back whenever there is a good time and good deal through GolfNow since the course is almost ona and one half hours away.
Perfect weather but a little wet.
Perfect weather with a little breeze but beautiful scenery as always. Fast greens are a little challenging and the blind dog leg fairways give some head shaking but enjoyable course always. Pro shop staff are super friendly and professional. Worth driving 65 miles to have a wonderful outing. Playing here once a month has become a part of my regular monthly schedule. They follow the Covid19 sanitary regulations well so no need to worry about it. Thanks GolfNow.
Pretty wet with CPO in play
It was nice to get out on the course, I play here often. The course was pretty wet from recent rains and it was a little chilly with winds up to 20MPH. Lots of players out enjoying the sunshine for a change.
Good overall
Some players not courteous and understanding of slower pace ahead of you. Mayb the winter weather and rain caused average conditions. Still was impressed with the layout and smaller than usual greens. Club Sandwich was a bomb ! May repeat in better weather.
So so round
Hadn’t played here in a couple of years. Course used to be in good shape back then, not sure what has happened in the past couple of years. Their driving range is mostly dirt with a little grass here and there. Then you step on to the tee boxes and it’s pretty much the same thing, more dirt. The fairways were ok, given that it’s winter conditions. The greens are always fast and lots of break, even when you think there isn’t any. One of the guys we played with told us there are new owners, well I would say to him how about putting some money back into your club.
