The Ridge Golf Course & Events Center

They have done a stellar job dealing with the massive amounts of rain, course was a little soggy but greens and fairways were in good shape, most of the bunkers have dried out considering the rain. Staff is super nice, driving range is rad, newer balls. Definitely prefer this place over darkhorse. 5 hour round was a bummer for a Saturday but that seems to be the new norm at most courses.

I have been playing the Ridge for about 5 years now. Play 4-5 times a year. I am a mid teen handicap but hit the ball plenty long so I enjoy the yardage and layout of the Ridge. With that said, these greens have gone from decent POA/bent mix to the worst in the area. You guys have tons of brand new equipment, large maintenance crew, and a ton of money. It’s all a waste when your greens look like most courses tee boxes. The length is always wayyyyyyy too long. My guess is mowing around .140-.150 most of the year except late spring/summer. I have never seen such a misuse of time and funds to upkeep a very nice course in the region. Greens need to be smooth even if they are slow. Can you seriously try to tell people with a straight face you have had greens that roll anything close to true?! I mean the county courses in Sacramento all have better greens and even the 9 holes in the area. You are trying to grow high crown thick bent grass greens in a hot season/wet winter climate. It’s never gonna work and they will never be pure again. This last year I saw them go from acceptable to absolutely unacceptable. I am constantly spreading the word and will continue to do so. It will be my last trip to this place for a long time. Go adopt the greens agronomy programs from Dark Horse, Whitney, Turkey, Ancil, Apple, Winchester, anything but what you guys are doing because you have ruined these greens. Not to mention they will be full of crabgrass and dallisgrass come summertime like they have been the past couple seasons. Stop wasting time and money on overseeding fairways and tees you guys can’t even grow putting greens!!! Priorities: 1. greens 2. tees 3. Fairways 4. Rough, etc… it’s just a shame because this is not what RTJ II had in mind for the future of this course when it was built. Sincerely, a frustrated long time customer.

Cart path only but still enjoyed the course and layout!

First of all I love the course, it is a true challenge. Whenever I feel on top of my game I go here to be humbled. Greens were punched in October and are still incredibly bumpy and not worth playing even at a discounted rate.

This was my third outing at The Ridge. My only complaint was carts were forbidden on the fairways. I understand the course had lots of moisture, but it certainly seemed dry enough for carts. It's a difficult course and played long even from the championship tees. We're from Reno, so it was nice to warm up. 51 degrees felt like paradise from the frigid cold we've had for 6 weeks. We'll definitely be back.

Upscale design. Great scenic Auburn but that is where it ends. Not worth playing unless you get a GolfNow or internet deal. Greens were under aeration but no indicator and I believe this is late in the season to be doing it. (Dec) Painfully slow play with no Marshall in sight. This is typically and expected on a weekend but this was a weekday. No starter to verify groupings. Only positives would be fun and challenging design but not worth a 6 hour round.

Play slowed by carts not being allowed in the fairway. Greens not yet rolling true due to previous punching but are fast and will hold incoming long irons.

I was not informed by GolfNow or when I checked in that greens has been punched and in poor condition.

This is a fantastic course. Difficult but fair. HOWEVER, there was no notification by GolfNow or when I checked in the that the greens had been recently punched, and of course no price discount. It was a beautiful November day after thanksgiving. Ready to play around of golf after a day of eating lots food and full day of football. Nice shot from the first tee and second shot on the green. AND, then learn that the greens were punched. The greens are difficult by design, but essentially unplayable punched. Best to play your shot on the green. Leave your putter in the bag, pick up your ball. Take a two putt and move on.

Very disappointed that we hadn't been told it was cart path only and that the greens were sanded and punched.

At the end of the day my husband left his phone in the cart. When he called the next day and told the woman which cart he left it in she told him that it hadn't been turned in. The next day a woman told him the same thing. The third time a guy answered and told him it was right there. Of course no one called us at the number we had left to tell us they had found it.

Very disappointing!! Our previous experience here were good so we are chalking it up to a fluke and will take it it all into consideration in the future.

The ridge is a great golf course, however when you pay to play 18 holes and you show up to the front 9 being closed unexpectedly..the experience is ruined. No accountability from the people at the ridge or people at golf now
