Nice Course
Nice resort type course. Great conditions. Layout is nice but very tough and plays long from the blue tees. Tough greens to read and fast. No homes on the course which is very nice. Hilly with trrees. Mountain type course and fun.
Great challenging course.
After all the rain we've had the fairways and greens were in great shape. Playing as a single sometime players won't let you play through. Had 3 foursomes let me play on through and finish my 18 in 3 hours. Friendly people in the foothills.
Highly Recommended.
Nice course, but slow play
I enjoyed the course, however, another twosome joined us and made it uncomfortable. This guy should not have been allowed on the course. He was dressed in cheap dirty sweats, urinated on the cart path in front of us, and kept saying “who is your daddy.” Other than the slow play, the course was fine. Oh, the house fries in the bar after the round were most excellent!!!
Caught a beautiful day!
I don't play often enough to play very well, but I really like this golf course in every respect including the layout, the carts with GPS & staff.
So terribly slow, could never get a speed of play
Slow, had to quit at the 16th hole because we couldn’t take it anymore. Didn’t have anything but polish dogs to buy quickly even at noon. Out of sandwiches, out of hot dogs. Happy hour food made to order was cold
One of the best run GC in the area
As always you start your round with a great pro shop experience. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Course is in good shape and great for this time of year. Green were fast and true. Only complaint is the inconsistency of the sand traps, however if you avoid them this will not be a problem.
Robert Trent Jones Jr
A Lot is implied with that name.
Undulating greens, fast greens, target golf, lost balls, lethal beauty.
Amazing course & experience. But this ain't party wagon golf.
It's pretty serious golf. Unless you are consistently in the low 80's or
better at other courses, you are going to struggle to keep pace here.
We were a threesome of high 80's golfers. We held pace... but we didn't
spend any time looking for balls (lost about a half dozen each). It was a
5 hr round that slowed around the 16th.
My recommendation for golfers shooting over 85 anywhere else
or anyone playing the course for the 1st time is to play some type
of best ball format. I think you will learn & enjoy the course more.
(And easily maintain a great pace.)
Other notes:
The golf carts have automated marshalls with technical support
for your location & distances. And if you drive it some place that
you shouldn't... the cart dies. You can only drive it in reverse with
a back up beep that announces your driving to everyone.
The food is AWESOME. Order from the cart.
I'll go again. But I'm playing a best ball format.
Beautiful Course
I thought this was an exceptional course to play on Thursday evening with not a cloud in the sky. The greens had just been mowed and the fairways were beautiful looking. Greens rolled great and I had an excellent time out there. Will definitely be playing again!
Best Value in Auburn @ 20 bucks
Mid week pace of play was good. Course is in great shape. Greens are super fast.
Wonderful course to sharpen your iron skills.
Some years ago, toured as a spectator this course when they hosted an LPGA tournament. I think it was a Long Drugs Tournament. Wanted to play here but never got around to. Got the chance to play thanks to GolfNow. It was quite a challenge but thoroughly enjoyed the round. I started my golf game in Georgia mountains some 20 years ago. Familiar with, in fact, I play better in the mountain courses.
There was enough challenges with inclining, narrow and sharp dog leg fairways, tough rough, a bit too many sand traps surrounding the greens. Certainly not a course for less than a medium - skilled or beginning players. Had 2 d-bogies and lost a half a dozen balls to the forest. Scored one of the highest in recent years.
Scenery is excellent even with heavy overcast. Wildlife help the scenery: geese, ducks and some gophers and squirrels. Needed cleaning of the animal refuses though.
Will come back when the weather is good to see if I can improve my scores.
Thanks again, GolfNow.
Fun
The ridge was perfect condition traps were perfect weather was nice
First time at The Ridge.
My wife and I were very pleased with this course playing it for the first time. Not a long course but very challenging none the less. My wife loved the greens as well as I. This course is target Golf with skinny fairways and small greens. We loved that it was very reasonably priced and that they are not strict at all on joining you with others to make a complete foursome. Two singles in front of us and a single walker behind. Will be coming here more often.
The Round
I had a single time for 12:30. I arrived at 11:45 and hit a small bucket of balls. The gentleman at the counter said, " Enjoy your bucket and come back in when you're done and we will get you going ". The course was wide open to go and I tee'd off at 12:15. The greens were awesome and the fairways were being managed on this day (tines vs goose poop)! Great job The Ridge for your hospitality! I was off the course by 3:40.
Love this course!
I was greeted by name in the pro shop. I play here
when I can, but I would not call my self a regular so this made an impression on me. Nice touch.
Tee time was exact and I was paired with some great guys. Pace of play was good, some waiting but never very long.
The course is a little rough which surprises me as it is usually in good shape. Do not misunderstand, I would be back there tomorrow!
This is without a doubt my favorite course in the Sac/foothill area. Never boring and never easy.
Can't wait to play The Ridge again!
Great review! Best ball sounds a little extreme but when I played, I was just losing balls at my own pace, all by myself on a weekday morning. Good tips tho! Thanks!
