About
Lockwood Folly Country Club is a superbly conditioned, semi-private, member owned "hidden gem". The course is located at the confluence of the Intracoastal Waterway and the Lockwood Folly River, providing golfers with breathtaking vistas of tidal estuary, moss covered hard- woods and the solitude of nature. Tree lined, nonparallel fairways winding through hardwoods and pine afford a sense of seclusion while challanged with championship golf.

Golfer Reviews
Always on our playing list when down on vacation.
I play here 2 to 3 times a year when on vacations
Never seen it in bad shape for the 25yrs. I been coming.Saying that, it was probably in less pristine conditions than a lot of nearby courses. Still a good value.
Go check it out!
I was in Oak Island for the weekend and wanted to try some places out so I found this really cool course with some unique holes that are challenging for everybody. From the parking lot to the bathrooms it’s a really beautiful place and I would encourage anybody to go check it out while they are in this area.
Nice
Nice course. Interesting layout that you can’t just pull driver and bomb it. Tee boxes not in great condition. Greens were pretty good. Fairways were average. Some nice views and cool nature.
Worth the money if you stay near by
Played on a Monday and our tee time got pushed back about 40min because of a tournament. Pace of play was slow. Fairways have still a lot of damage from the winter. Greens are fast and in good shape. Tee boxes need some work, just like the cart paths. The Layout is nice. You play thru a nice living area close to the water, which you only can see at the Clubhouse or the 18th green. It was a long drive from North Myrtle Beach and we wouldn't drive there again for what we have experienced.
Course Need work
There wasn’t one sand trap playable on the course. Fairways were rough as well. Greens rolled fast and were very good.
Very nice layout
Friendly staff. I liked the hole layout. Greens were in good shape for this time of year. Green fairways which is great compared to other courses in the area. I would definitely play it again.
The layout was nice but the course wasn’t in very good shape. A lot of bare areas. The fairways were dormant because it was Feb. Hard to get club under the ball. The greens were good and consistent. Staff was very nice and attentive.
Great course. I have been playing it for 30 years and it’s still a beautiful course to play.
pleasant for the price
living in the area, since Spring 2022. First time here. the good: the greens! were spectacular and that is 70% of a course for me. quick and true. soft enough to hold high approach shots. the layout was nice - being the first time, some holes were tricky, can't wait to play it again. #18 was a great risk / reward finishing hole. The not so good: everything else was a little chewed up. Several tee box's were not level. there was some ground under repair. some fairways were very thin. Had a groupon for $42 plus taxes / fees, so at $45, it was good value. Would not want to pay any more at this condition. LOVED the layout. Played the BLUE tees, I am an 11. PLENTY of challenge at close to 6300 yards. White is too short, at ~5990. A hybrid combo would be wonderful, B/W combo around 6150 - pull 2 par 3's fwd and shorten that 400 yard par 4 on the back 9. Will be back.
Fun golf course
Played alone. I tried not to play up to the group in front and had no one behind me until I reached 18. Tees, fairways and greens were true. The rough was exactly that. Don’t go there. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly. For the price I couldn’t do better with this still high season. I look forward to my next trip back. Go Play Lockwood Folly!
Could be a great course but needs a little maintenance
The course had a nice layout and was interesting to play. It was starting to look a little worn out. Only issue I had was the tee box area needed better maintenance and markings.
