Rose Hill Golf Club

First time playing Rose Hill in a while. The course itself has improved but still needs some TLC. The greens are in good shape except for the occasional weed in the way. They roll true and a little slow. The tee boxes needed to be mowed especially if you don’t use a tee on par 3s. The fairways are descent but still have patches of weeds or dead spots. The sand traps are in need of the most care. They were mainly packed mud with no loose sand to get under. They need to be broken up and churned restore to descent play. The last comment is the rough is need of mowing. The depth when I played was half an inch taller than a ball (I checked by dropping a ball at my feet). Several times shots 3’ off the fairways were found only by looking straight down. Frustrating and slowed paced of play.

I will be back in 6 months to see if new management has upkept course over the winter. The course is on the mend.

I played this course several times during the winter of 2023. The conditions were not very good at that time. The course has improved immensely since then. The fairways are in great shape. The tee boxes also. The greens are very good. Could not rate the bunkers as it was very rainy the previous several days and the bunkers were compact and some had water in them. The staff are extremely helpful and very friendly. It was a great day even though my golf game was not so good. :) I will certainly be back and highly recommend the course as a great value.

First time playing rose hill due to concerns over ratings but absolutely loved the course. Probably my favorite layout of the handful of courses I've played in the area. Course conditions were good considering tropical storm had come through within the week. Greens were slow but chalked that up to all the rain but almost all of them were in very good condition. Staff was friendly and pace of play was great. Didn't run over anybody or anyone catch us for a holiday. The only thing I would pick at would be the pro shop only had complimentary waters so had to wait until 11 for restaurant to open to get anything else but with the new management this may improve.

Overall I will return to play and would recommend anyone to give this course a chance.

Great course. Challenging for all levels. The only course we could find that offered a 9 hole rate.

Still quite a few rough spots but course is definitely headed in the right direction. Greens are not bad, fairways a little patchy and tee boxes still need some love but pleased to see the effort being put in to get this course back in condition. Will definitely be back.

I know the rains, especially the tropical storm Idalia, made it impossible to mow for a few days, but that wasn't a surprise. They should've mowed in preparation. I exaggerate not--I've played courses with fairways better to putt on than the greens at Rose Hill.

Course was in pretty good shape considering it was 2 days after a hurricane!!

WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT !!!

Months ago, I simply couldn't recommend this course. Now, I suggest you give it a try.

While it still is in need of more improvements, it has come a LONG, LONG way.

(From perhaps an "F"...to a C+.....and likely to be a B- when I play it next (they were aerating the greens).

If you played it much earlier this year, please take my advice and try it again. In its current condition, it is one of the better Value$ is the area..

And, I have no doubt.....withe their CONSTANT efforts.....it is going to be even BETTER when I review it next time.

We couldn't have had a much better time than we did today. The staff treated us as best buddies. The course is in very good condition and I've got to say I/we were very happy with the play of the greens. The layout makes it enjoyable, challenging, and rewarding. I was told the clubhouse will be reopening with in the week which is only going to make us come back because of reputation the restaurant has on Hilton Head Island. This course was rated one of the best in the Hilton Head area for a very good reason, Best Course For The Money.

As advised when paying, course under new management again, about third time in last five or six years. Course went downhill for awhile but improvements under way! Good luck with that and getting bar/restaurant open again. Pro shop staff friendly and shop well stocked. Will check progress next year when down visiting daughter and family.

I would play this course again,and recommend others to play .

It was good to see several upgrades since last fall and with more attention to the fairways and greens this will be a fun course.

Crew was starting to cut the front fairways but the green were long and shaggy as were the back fairways and greens. Roughs were very long. Several greens have serious weed/grass problems.

Is the course Masters ready? No (feels very much like a locals kind of course). BUT is the experience incredible? Absolutely. Friendliest staff I’ve ever encountered. They made us feel so welcome- pulled up right to the car to load our bags, gave us free bottles of cold water, joked around with us- really made the round easy and fun which was perfect.

Nice course. Challenging. Staff is super friendly. Course and greens are under renovation and it shows. Will be better in the future.
