About
Rose Hill Golf Club in Bluffton is situated amongst plentiful live oaks draped with Spanish moss. There are also sparkling, crystal-clear lakes that come into play on several holes. The golf course is a part of Rose Hill Plantation, giving it a truly Southern look and feel. Most of the holes are flat and straightforward but there are a few tricky doglegs to keep the course interesting. The layout features formidable par 3s that will test even the best players and a notably difficult par 5 that measures just over 600 yards. The challenging holes are balanced with player-friendly features that make it versatile enough for a wide range of skill levels. Four sets of tees, the longest coming to just over 6,900 yards, make Rose Hill Golf Club even more accessible.

Big improvement over the last time I played just 1 month ago. Fairways and tees were pretty lush. A few greens still need some work but overall a night and day difference. Very pleased with the work and money they put in.

Enjoyable Round
The greens are being repaired, so they were a little slow and patchy in places. The staff explained the situation to us before we played so we knew what we were getting into. They also offered a discounted rate due to the greens being in process of recovering. The layout was challenging with plenty of water and OB throughout. The course was nevertheless playable. I’ll be back.

Much needed improvements are progressing
I have already written a few reviews of this course.
My last review mentioned that efforts are taking place.
This is NOT a pristine Golf Course; please understand that.
If you have never played it, and expect NICE conditions, this course simply is not there yet.
It may/may not be there in the next few months.
I have played a few courses in the area that have similar conditions, two lesser with a lesser price, and one lesser with a higher price. Courses that are MUCH NICER carry price tags of 1.5-2.5 times higher.
My reason for posting (again) is that there IS at least EFFORT going into the course to improve it.
Recently, greens were worked on, and sanded......they need some water from Mother Nature to help the process. The fairways now have grass that provides the lie you need, if not directly where your ball sits, at least with a 'preferred' lie.
I have mentioned that the strength of this course is its layout.....a formidable challenge, with greens protected by bunkers....it is Not an easy course. The challenge is better than some of the "HIGH" priced courses in the area.
I will say that if you play there, there are three consecutive greens on the Back Nine that will be a LONG time before they will be fun to play...........maybe take a 'two-putt' on those to make your day enjoyable.
My point is, despite not great conditions, it is a POSITIVE to see the EFFORT being made at Rose Hill.
I suspect i will play again there.................and will update as things progress.

Nice layout good location needs a lot of TLC
Some tee boxes, fairways and most of the greens are in bad shape lots of bare spots on greens
Staff was very friendly
No restaurant for snacks or drinks
I, expected a better course for that price
Cannot recommend it to my friends at present shape

Terrible course
Obviously they have let this one go. Greens are almost all gone. Terrible waste of money. Not able to use the HONOR code or my credits. The website would not allow it. So bad all around day.

1st time at Rose Hill
Staff was very cordial , Layout was very good but long. There weren’t too many easy holes. I thought # 10 was tge most challenging ( for me)
A number of the greens were in need of repair and a couple of the fairways were somewhat damaged by rain ( a little soggy).
Would play here again.

lousy greens
greens for the most part are BAD, some have grass that could be putted. lots of bare diet or weeds. Most tee boxes worn out. 18 holes 3,5 hours because we were onlly pair on the course!

The course is in very poor condition. They are working on it and by next year it should be better.

What could be …. isn’t
Appealing view from the road …. Gated entrance …. Good looking clubhouse … bag drop attendant …. Then reality set in.
The putting green was like off roading …. Hit the first tee and lots of dirt, fairways had no new grass growth and the green was almost unplayable. Thought it would get better. Nada. Every hole was the same but some greens simply had no grass around the holes.
The layout is great. Somebody put some money into this place and it could be worth the $$$.
If you do play bring your own drinks and grub. Nothing offered here.
Pretty disappointed for the money spent.

Greens aren't green
I played Rose Hill many years ago. Conditions were good at that time. I've always loved the layout. When I played it recently, I was extremely disappointed with the greens. Many are bare. The green fees were much more than the course is worth. $25 would be a fair price to play.

They are trying!
We checked reviews and first saw how everyone was talking bad about the conditions before it was bought out by new ownership. The staff is extremely nice! They brought the carts to the truck and loaded up all 4 of our bags. The club house seems to be very new and nice. The course has the potential to be gorgeous and amazing golf, however for the time being I wouldn’t go back simple from conditions. Maybe in a year or so after new ownership continues to revamp the course, I’ll drive by and see if it’s any better. Until the. I wouldn’t play it again. Great staff and one of the best prices in Hilton head. Just very very poor conditions of all fairways, greens ans tee boxes. Except for the 18th.

Bad Greens
The entire course every green was diseased. No notice of any green conditions. It was comparable to playing aerated greens. Unfortunately no mention was given before choosing. Please call to check course conditions or it will be a waste of money. We could not putt on that surface. Greens surface looked like a bunker.
