About
Rose Hill Golf Club in Bluffton is situated amongst plentiful live oaks draped with Spanish moss. There are also sparkling, crystal-clear lakes that come into play on several holes. The golf course is a part of Rose Hill Plantation, giving it a truly Southern look and feel. Most of the holes are flat and straightforward but there are a few tricky doglegs to keep the course interesting. The layout features formidable par 3s that will test even the best players and a notably difficult par 5 that measures just over 600 yards. The challenging holes are balanced with player-friendly features that make it versatile enough for a wide range of skill levels. Four sets of tees, the longest coming to just over 6,900 yards, make Rose Hill Golf Club even more accessible.

NEEDS ATTENTION
The greens were terrible, like putting on packed mud. Wasn't really worth the $55 per person Golf Now "deal" we paid.
The greens were the worst, but the tee boxes and fairways were all below average

Enjoyable, if you have few expectations
Springtime in HHI; playing as a couple, our goal was to have a low-cost, quiet day to ourselves (i.e., we were in Duffer not A-game mode). Not an easy task...
You can read the other reviews about the course conditions. They are not overstated. The greens were heartbreaking and the stuff (I'm guessing) of a superintendent's nightmare. The potential is there, and I hope they figure out how to turn it around. That said, we had a picture-perfect day. Layout and vistas for a course built around a development is quite lovely. Front 9 was a bit slow with some novice players in front of us (who did not quite understand letting faster players play thru). Once we scooted around them, all was well, and we had the back 9 entirely to ourselves.
Staff was kind and very welcoming. Nicely stocked pro shop. On course restrooms were well maintained. Clubhouse looked nice but we did not use.

Not worth the $$$
Course was in bad shape! Greens were BAD! Bumby,bare just not good. Not worth $52!

Poor conditions
I played this course years ago and it was a great course. I was so disappointed while playing this course this week. Greens were in horrible shape. Not much grass on any greens. Numerous tees were in bad shape as well. Supposedly they just hired a new management company to take care of course but they have a long way to go.

Disappointed Again
End of March in the Low Country and many of the greens had no grass. And once again the course was muddy despite very little recent rain. This place is a shame for the members and homeowners in the plantation. I would consider living in Rose Hill but that would be foolish based on the way the Club and Golf Course is maintained! Property values definitely have to suffer!

I am hoping for better conditions by May (or soon after)
It has been an interesting number of years playing at Rose Hill.
The Management has gone through several changes.........I think this is a main reason for poor Conditions over the years.
With IMG coming on board last year, some improvements were seen in the Fall of 2022.......(the course was in about as POOR shape as could be.)
Unfortunately, those improvements brought the course from literally a D- grade to a D.....where it remains today. I simply cannot recommend the course to anyone paying beyond whatever they think a Golf Cart price ONLY should be.......simply do not consider paying $10 above that amount.
Without 'piling on'.........any golfer considering paying $$ to play needs to know that the Tee Boxes are less than a C.....certainly not a deal-breaker.
The 'off fairways' are about a C. The Traps are perhaps the best Grade....perhaps a B+. Unfortunately, what is MOST important to golfers are the last two perspectives.....that is where this course simply needs SO, SO, MUCH improvement. First, the Fairways are Poor, sparse grass, and 'interesting' turf. It simply is NOT easy to hit off....and if you like a 'fluffy' lie, you simply are not going to get it here. Then, what is generally the MOST important for golfers are the GREENS..........and the grade here is in the vicinity of a D. Perhaps with warm weather in upcoming weeks, some grass on the Fairways and Greens will improve conditions where it can be enjoyable to play!!!!
Rose Hill has a formidable layout.....better than 'decent' on the Front Nine, and NICE on the Back Nine.
It is certainly CHALLENGING.......its Biggest Strength!! (Think Approach shots to Greens well protected by front Sand Traps.)
It will be interesting to see how Course Conditions improve this Spring/Summer. IMG is a well know player in Course Management. They will spend assets well.....will those assets allocated be enough?
I sure hope so......................and I will HAPPILY post a more positive review when the current POOR conditions improve.

Course conditioning
The greens were impossible to putt due to the lack of grass. The greens that did have some grass were unsuitable because there was two different types of grass that were different heights.

UNBELIEVABLE
UNFORTUNATELY I LET SOMEONE TALK ME INTO PLAYING THIS COURSE. ITS BEEN ABOUT TWO SINCE I LAST PLAYED IT AND IT HAS ONLY GOTTEN WORSE. I HEARD THAT THE MEMBERSHIP HAD HIREE A COMPANY TO RUN THE COURSE. IF THGATS THE CASE THAN THEY HAVE RUN THE CONDITION IN TO THE GROUND AND TAKEN OFF WITH ANY INCOME THEY MAY HAVE RECEIVED. ITS A SHAME, THE BACK NINE ISNT A BAD DESIGN BUT THE OVERALL CONDITION WAS HORRENDOUS. GREENS HAD LITTLE PUFFS OF GRASS TRYING TO GROW THROUGH THE BLYTE, THE FAIRWAY'S HAD BUGS THAT SOME ANIMALS WERE DIGGING UP TO EAT LEAVING HOLES AND MOLE LOIKE TUNNELS PUSHING UP DIRT EVERYWHERE.. I WILL NEVER GO BACK UNLESS THEY RE-DO THE ENTIRE FRONT NINE AND TOTALLY RE-SEED THE BACK NINE AND BRING IT UP TO A CONDITION THAT IS WORTH PAYING ANYTHING TO PLAY IT.

Anything but rosy
This course should be closed this month. I have never played on a course that did not have grass on its greens.. Practically all of the tbox’ s were muddy. Hilton Head deserves better for all tourist golfers.

Sad to see this fun course in such poor shape
I have played RHf for 30+ years. The greens are all dead. It is sad to see this fun course in such horrible shape. Sorry, but I won’t return. Needs big financial infusion.
