About
Rose Hill Golf Club in Bluffton is situated amongst plentiful live oaks draped with Spanish moss. There are also sparkling, crystal-clear lakes that come into play on several holes. The golf course is a part of Rose Hill Plantation, giving it a truly Southern look and feel. Most of the holes are flat and straightforward but there are a few tricky doglegs to keep the course interesting. The layout features formidable par 3s that will test even the best players and a notably difficult par 5 that measures just over 600 yards. The challenging holes are balanced with player-friendly features that make it versatile enough for a wide range of skill levels. Four sets of tees, the longest coming to just over 6,900 yards, make Rose Hill Golf Club even more accessible.

Disappointing at best
My wife and I played Rose Hill for the first time. It was a sloppy mess with the grass on the fairways very sparse and the greens soaking wet. This time of year for sure. We will come back when it's dry and grown back in. We liked the layout but the conditions were a real detriment to our enjoyment. It'll get better in the spring.

Tried Course Since "Under New Management"
I arrived in Hilton Head a week ago and when I passed Rose Hill I saw a sign saying it was under new management. Having had bad experiences there in the past, I decided to try it again, as I love the fact that they have so many alligators sunning on the banks there.
The staff was incredibly friendly from the cart guy to the folks in the pro shop to the starter and the Marshall. I felt very welcomed.
The course was generally in fair shape. The fairways were dormant so I wasn't expecting pristine conditions. I was however disappointed in the greens. Most greens had very little grass and it was like putting on top of mud or dirt.
I only paid $35 to play it since I found a HOT Deal so I would say it was worth that much. It was a fun, beautiful day regardless.

Course is slowly coming back to life
The original design and layout of Rose Hill is interesting and a good test. The course was closed, unmaintained, and overgrown when it fell to financial troubles, and when reopened under a management company, not much acceptable progress was made. Now that the club is again managing the course and it’s maintenance, improvements are underway. But the current state is really just pretty poor. There is so little grass and turf on much of the greens that it’s basically “unputtable” in places. The fairways are getting better, still a long way to go. If the club can afford the needed chemistry and work hours, I’d guess it could reach more acceptable conditions by next year sometime. Today, though, it’s not much fun to play, although it is still a decent $ value with a lower cost than almost any local competitive course.

Needs Lots of Work
With a little effort this could be a great course, put some grass on the Greens and Tee Boxes for a start. Put a fridge in the Pro Shop and stock it with Beverages so players can get something to drink when the "Grill" isn't open.

It was a nice layout with some interesting holes. The condition of the greens was poor at best. Very little grass and the greens were like hardpan.

Improved Since My Last Review
I played this course a few months ago and said it was the worst-managed course I ever played. Shortly after that, the management company was changed, and the course was closed to fix some of the most egregious problems. Went back yesterday and while there's still a way to go before they earn a five-star review the course is at least playable and the worst issues have been resolved. The staff is great. Price is very reasonable (for locals). I'll go back in a few months.

Still going down hill!!
No one seemed to care if we played or not, no one at the bag drop when we got there and no starter on the first tee. Couldn’t get a bag of ice or cooler for my beer and yet they had no problem charging $5 a can for beer. Golf rates are way to high for a course that is in mediocre condition with greens that don’t have any grass.

Poor Conditions
Course was in very poor condition. Green were like cauliflower, tees were dirt. Pro shop staff were very friendly.

Nice golf course
Wet conditions from previous days rain storm caused cart path only on front 9 and some areas in fairway to be unplayable. Tee boxes on some holes were very rough, but greens putted really well and true.
