About
Rose Hill Golf Club in Bluffton is situated amongst plentiful live oaks draped with Spanish moss. There are also sparkling, crystal-clear lakes that come into play on several holes. The golf course is a part of Rose Hill Plantation, giving it a truly Southern look and feel. Most of the holes are flat and straightforward but there are a few tricky doglegs to keep the course interesting. The layout features formidable par 3s that will test even the best players and a notably difficult par 5 that measures just over 600 yards. The challenging holes are balanced with player-friendly features that make it versatile enough for a wide range of skill levels. Four sets of tees, the longest coming to just over 6,900 yards, make Rose Hill Golf Club even more accessible.

One of the 5 worst courses ever played
I have played for over 50yrs and have not seen many courses in worse condition. Tee markers have not been moved in weeks, rough well over ankle high, fairways full of crab grass and greens very slow and bumpy. Hallmark is the company currently managing the course and it doesn't have enough people to maintain the course and you can tell cares very little to improving it.

Rose Hill
Greens were terrible. That had weeds throughout each green, Overall course had very good tract, but greens made is poorer than any muny course i have played. No way this qualifies as class 3 quality.

Worst Maintained Course I've Ever Played
Greens are unplayable. Tee boxes are unkempt. There is a disease all over this course. The course smelled, that's how bad it was. This course should not be open for play. If they paid me to play this course I would turn them down.
The layout is great. Tight course, interesting holes. Shame that it's in such a bad condition.

Rather embarrassing
I was embarrassed just to stand on the course let alone play it.

Feel bad for the management.
Without dumping hundreds of thousands of dollars into the course. There isn’t much anyone can do. I’ve play here 10 times or so and I can not believe!!!!! People pay over 50 for this course. The greens are the worst in the area. The layout is poor and built for a draw. The fairways are average. They have moderate fairways somewhat. They tend to be a bit patchy and very hard but are somewhat playable. The tee boxes are overgrown and not maintained. I’m a assistant pro and I feel so sorry for anyone trying to recover this course.

Bad day at the Hill
Course was poorly maintained. Greens on front 9 needed cut and we’re full of weeds. Grass outside the fairways was very overgrown and in need of cutting. Overall for the money it was not worth it and was easily the worst course I have played in Hilton Head.

Poor condition
I have played here 1/2 Dozen times. The condition was not as it usually is. I was a bit shocked but understand they have short staff for grounds.

Played the course several years ago for $35 including cart. Thought $77 was over the top for a course I would rate as a Municipal 18 hole common golf course. Suitable for play if the price was more reasonable. If I have to pay this then there are a lot of courses on the Island that are better for the same amount.

GREAT PEOPLE - POOR COURSE
First time playing this course. The course itself is not very challenging.
The clubhouse / bar/ restaurant / restrooms etc have all had a new facelift and looked great.
Everyone i met was exceptionally nice , courteous and professional.
The carts are very new and nice.
The course is horrible. Chunky greens with weedy grass growing on them etc. Added - much of the grass in the rough and around the edges was OVER 4” TALL.
There are not enough bad things to say about the condition of this course and equally imperative to point out the difference between the people and the course.

Pretty course/Financially friendly
Several rough spots here and there and the areas “around the fairways” weren’t kept very well. But it’s a pretty course, greens are okay, cost is appropriate, and it’s of reasonable difficulty.

Alligator
Careful of crawling gators. Lol. We were not attacked but we did see one laying beside the pond about 20 yards from our ball. Enjoyed the course: greens could use some work. Very friendly staff. Worth playing. Alligator video and pic attached.

Rough shape
Very friendly staff and few people on course. Greens have lots of weeds and rough has not been cut in a while. Would not recommend due to rough shape

Clubhouse and staff were friendly and helpful.
Course was in decent shape but the greens are in need of repair.
I would recommend this course if they greens are improved.

Good value
We like this course. Not overpriced. Usually not crowded. Not fancy but works forvus bogey golfers.
