Rose Hill Golf Club

Rose Hill was in decent shape for a dry late October round. Not too tight, and flat lies make for a pretty easy round. I grew frustrated by the slow play, and because the price is good, seems that many hackers show up to play here. The marshal needs to enforce the triple bogey rule.

Had a great time playing Rose Hill. Was a bit concerned based on other reviews , but figured we’d give it a shot. There were a couple rough spots, but in general course was fine. Definitely seems to be moving in the right direction. We enjoyed the layout. Had an afternoon tee time, and our foursome finished in less than 4 hours . Cheaper then most area courses and would play again.

Consider the recent problems with ownership before you judge this course. Unfortunately Rose Hill fell pray to management that failed to take care of the course. There is now strong evidence showing this classic is on the way back. There will be a year or two before it is completely back but if we give it some support it will be the course it used to be. Please play Rose Hill so we will all have another high quality choice when in the Bluffton/Hilton Head area.

Great layout., but greens still need help. The most courteous staff on any course on or off island. Course is in better shape than a year ago and getting better. We’ll go back.

After reading some reviews from 8+ months ago and those within the last few weeks, I decided to give Rose Hill a try. I arrived 20 minutes early and was told I would be able to tee off immediately and to my surprise I was able to play alone so I was able to really take in this course. The fairways were in decent shape as they were recently mowed. The rough was not forgiving as it is rather deep so it wasn't easy to find your ball but it wasn't a thick heavy grass so hitting out of it was okay. A few of the greens are fighting with some fungus and some are dealing with weed control but all were very playable. I believe the new management is making big strides to improve this golf course. It is a great layout and I think it's a good golf course overall. I look forward to playing it again in the near future and I recommend to give it a try.

Course was in good shape other than some high grass on the end of the back 9. Could really tell they were working to improve the greens but they were not unplayable

Was no comparison to the last couple of times I played here over a two to three year period. Really good shape for the area. (Unplayable the last time I played here). One blaring problem was pace of play. I played alone the front now nine very fast…nice! Got to the back nine and was told by the single in front of me that he just had a 2:30 hour front nine behind 12 very slow players. Bottom line; I got a nine hole rain check and left ( nice addition). The single also quit after 9. I wanted to continue but had no time. Was told some had jumped on at #10. Better course management would help! I will be back with the hopes of a faster pace.

This course was in terrible condition! The greens were the worst greens I have ever seen in my life! Every green was covered with weeds and was jumping together years war I’ll make a stupid mistake in Japan virtually impossible to putt on. I would not recommend this course to any golfer, no matter their skill level. The course management is only interested in taking your money, not maintaining the golf course.

I only rated the pace of play five stars because there was no one else stupid enough to be on that course.

Course was in disrepair. Greens bumpy and full of poanna. We were told that the course is better than it was. Wish we played somewhere else but couldn’t get our money back. There should have been a disclaimer from Golf Now before we selected this course.

We have come to the Hilton Head area for over 20 years. We played at Rose Hill back then and again about 10 years ago and the course was in pretty good shape back then. This time the greens had sprouts of what looked like crab grass causing a pinball effect on the greens. Very hard to hit a putt straight. We saw the ball get deflected quite a bit.

The staff like marshals were friendly. We did play in under four hours. We know the course has had issues and it seems it has a bit to go to get us to play again.

Really bad. Greens have so many weeds it makes putting impossible. Fairways need cut and tee boxes are thin. Looks like they have new owners because they were remodeling the clubhouse but unfortunately that’s the last thing they need to worry about.

The greens take away from the round. They are bumpy with tufts of grass growing. The front 9 is worse than the back. The back 9 is noticeably better. Traps are very well maintained. I have played Rose Hill since the early 90s and know that it has had several ownership changes and are going through one now. It appears as if they are making a real effort to improve the course. I'm looking forward to seeing how much better it is next year.
