Rose Hill Golf Club in Bluffton is situated amongst plentiful live oaks draped with Spanish moss. There are also sparkling, crystal-clear lakes that come into play on several holes. The golf course is a part of Rose Hill Plantation, giving it a truly Southern look and feel. Most of the holes are flat and straightforward but there are a few tricky doglegs to keep the course interesting. The layout features formidable par 3s that will test even the best players and a notably difficult par 5 that measures just over 600 yards. The challenging holes are balanced with player-friendly features that make it versatile enough for a wide range of skill levels. Four sets of tees, the longest coming to just over 6,900 yards, make Rose Hill Golf Club even more accessible.

Golfer Reviews
Good layout and challenge, but lacking maintenance
This course has potential because of a good layout and challenging holes, however it was drastically lacking maintenance, with weeds and flooding of traps, uncut grass with many weeds and areas where the grass had been cut but since it was so long, clumps of cut turf littered the fairways making it near impossible to find balls that had been hit in the fairway. Back nine was in better shape than the front 9. Address the maintenance issues and this would be a very nice course.
Not so 'Rose'y . . .
We've played Rose Hill a few times and up until yesterday always enjoyed the course but, you should avoid this course for the next 30-60 days, it's a train wreck.
Some kind of issue with the course maintenance crew so only maybe 6 of all of the tee boxes were cut, over growth EVERYWHERE, rough was nasty, weeds growing all over the place and the topper for all of this were the bunkers . . . #9 . . . right by the clubhouse . . . the bunkers have been full of water for so long that there are algae pods growing in one, and I swear there are frogs and tadpoles swimming in the other. It's horrible.
Example: I hit a hyrbid from the fairway on a par 5 maybe 200 yards and slightly right, maybe 2 yards to the right of the fairway around 60 yards from the green . . . LOST ball. We spent 3-4 minutes walking all over the rough staring down at the point where the ball went in, nope, lost ball. Just impossible to enjoy the round.
If the course was $10-15 - sure, give it a go but, save your money and go to another course in the area until they figure out what is going on here.

Pay a little more to play at another golf course…. It is worth it.
Love love that’s what this golf course is missing. The grass is not well maintained and the greens are super long, slow and in poor conditions and so is the same with tee off.

What a dump
This might the worst condition course I have ever played. I would play it again for $10 if it came with free lunch.

Poor Conditions
Been coming to HHI area since the mid 1990’s & this was worse course conditions I have ever experienced. Can’t believe they charge $50 for a round. Not surprised that I was the only one out on the course that day. Will definitely spend a bit more money next time to play a better kept course. Excessive rain is no excuse for the condition of the course as a whole. Just poorly kept from start to finish.

Sad
This course was in very sad shape. Greens not mowed, rough not mowed. No sand in bunkers and not weeded. I was just very disappointed in the condition of the course.

Crabgrass Hill would be a better name.
They should change the name to Crabgrass Hills Golf Club. I saw no roses but lots of crabgrass. The rough is ankle high and the fairways are either not cut or scalped. Greens are not puttable I understand they have been aerated but have not been cut. I feel sorry for their members. It's a very nice community with a golf course with horrible conditions.

has potential, but not maintained
Could not putt on the greens. No course ranger, the 4 in front of us didn't let us play through and we sat on the box for 15 minutes on the 13th, 14th and 15th hole. Finally when they saw another 4 waiting on the same box as us, they waved us through. They were most definitely members. For that reason alone I won't play there again unless it's free.

One of the 5 worst courses ever played
I have played for over 50yrs and have not seen many courses in worse condition. Tee markers have not been moved in weeks, rough well over ankle high, fairways full of crab grass and greens very slow and bumpy. Hallmark is the company currently managing the course and it doesn't have enough people to maintain the course and you can tell cares very little to improving it.

Rose Hill
Greens were terrible. That had weeds throughout each green, Overall course had very good tract, but greens made is poorer than any muny course i have played. No way this qualifies as class 3 quality.

Worst Maintained Course I've Ever Played
Greens are unplayable. Tee boxes are unkempt. There is a disease all over this course. The course smelled, that's how bad it was. This course should not be open for play. If they paid me to play this course I would turn them down.
The layout is great. Tight course, interesting holes. Shame that it's in such a bad condition.

Rather embarrassing
I was embarrassed just to stand on the course let alone play it.

Feel bad for the management.
Without dumping hundreds of thousands of dollars into the course. There isn’t much anyone can do. I’ve play here 10 times or so and I can not believe!!!!! People pay over 50 for this course. The greens are the worst in the area. The layout is poor and built for a draw. The fairways are average. They have moderate fairways somewhat. They tend to be a bit patchy and very hard but are somewhat playable. The tee boxes are overgrown and not maintained. I’m a assistant pro and I feel so sorry for anyone trying to recover this course.

Bad day at the Hill
Course was poorly maintained. Greens on front 9 needed cut and we’re full of weeds. Grass outside the fairways was very overgrown and in need of cutting. Overall for the money it was not worth it and was easily the worst course I have played in Hilton Head.
