Rose Hill Golf Club
About
Rose Hill Golf Club in Bluffton is situated amongst plentiful live oaks draped with Spanish moss. There are also sparkling, crystal-clear lakes that come into play on several holes. The golf course is a part of Rose Hill Plantation, giving it a truly Southern look and feel. Most of the holes are flat and straightforward but there are a few tricky doglegs to keep the course interesting. The layout features formidable par 3s that will test even the best players and a notably difficult par 5 that measures just over 600 yards. The challenging holes are balanced with player-friendly features that make it versatile enough for a wide range of skill levels. Four sets of tees, the longest coming to just over 6,900 yards, make Rose Hill Golf Club even more accessible.

Seen better days
Most of the course was in fair to good shape, but unfortunately 4 of the greens were in very rough shape.
The course was surprisingly light on golfers for a beautiful Sunday morning, so place was great at 3 1/2 hours.
Because of conditions, I would recommend this for beginners or casual golfers only, but bring lots of balls as it can be tight and with plenty of water to swallow up errant shots.
Greens in awful condition
The course greens were in bad conditions. Fairways were decent .The layout of the course is challenging but it needs some upkeep.
Pleasantly Surprised
First off I was looking for a decent course to play with my teenage son while on vacation and I was not looking for Champion conditions Or prices. Due to an injury I was not sure I could complete a full 18 anyway. Rose Hill was a beautifully laid out course representing the Hilton Head look I was after, even got to see gators who were in play too. I chose and extra stroke to avoid an encounter. That staff and clubhouse were very welcoming. No, the greens needed work but the staff knows that. $26 for 18 holes? That's hard to beat, versus $160-$300 at most of the courses. If you are using this app. you' re probably not a 0 handicap and you are looking for a deal, this was one.
Terrible Greens...sorry!
Course layout is very nice...this course could be excellent BUT the greens (almost all of them) are in terrible condition...especially when you compare them to other courses in this same area of Bluffton.
The bunkers are fine...fairways need some work but passable for this time of year...but unfortunately the greens are inexcusable...worst I’ve seen here in SC....again, sorry to have to say that, but that is the current reality. As mentioned above, this could be a very nice course...IF the greens can be brought back.
Great layout poor conditions
I love the layout of this course if conditions would improve I would play more often. Unfortunately I don't think they have enough money to ever improve condition very much. While other courses suffered from mold a couple years ago and came back this one has not.. Only reason I played again was price this time of year most courses around here (Savannah/Hilton Head) raise there rates and Rose Hill keeps theirs low. Greens are the worst part of course but if you want a nice track to play on and keep that in mind it is a good value.
Course has good layout and potential
The greens are almost unplayable. It is too bad as I really like the course layout. It has great potential but needs huge amount of work to make it value for money.
No More
No starter, so we believe the 2 singles ahead of us did not have those tee times. No Marshal to speed up play. 2.5 hrs to play 9 holes, so we just walked off, Greens full of mould and patches of weeds.
do not play
Paid 30$ to play which was 29$ too much. The rough mower was viewed stuck in a bog for the last several days. The greens had bare spots and basically unputtable. This course should be closed and given basic life support.
Condition
1) No ranger or starter. Group in front of us had 5 players. Had to call desk to get resolved. Dont know what was said to group but they still played as 5 but allowed us and group behing to play through.
2) Greens in worse condition that I have ever seen. Obvious maintenance problems.
Good Option for Budget, We like it!
We live on Hilton Head Island, but need to find courses that don't "bust the budget" in order to play as much as we'd like. Rose Hill fits very nicely in this equation. As far as "course conditions" the fairways are OK, but it's really the greens that have been in rough shape for a long time now. But...considering the lower cost to play, we have concluded that's only fair, and that Rose Hill is a good golfing value. The staff is friendly, and the brand new clubhouse is very nice. We've played most of the other Bluffton courses, and we feel lucky to have them available. Rose Hill is unique among them for offering a comparable course, but at a lower price. Just don't be too disappointed if you have to move your ball to a different spot on the putting surface.
Greens in poor shape
It’s unfortunate, but the greens are in poor shape. The staff are very pleasant, the layout is pretty good, lots of traps and water hazards. It will s set up to be a pretty good course, so I hope the greens will be better in the future. They need a lot to f work.
NY Golfers
Rose Hill is by far the worst course we have ever played. Not one green was even in fair shape. They were bare, weeds growing on them and sand on most of them. The fairways were dirt with very little grass. It was horrible!!! We played there 8 years ago and never again. A waste of money
Greens
The greens are useless. You can’t truly play a game here. The greens are truly garbage. Pace of play was insane. A group of 4 people held us and 6 other groups for 3 holes. We had to skip them. They need to lower the price to play here, or fix the course.
Good course, but not for $40
I’m a local who has played this course probably 15 times. I used to come play once a week when I was learning and working on my game. I enjoy the layout. The back 9 can be very challenging. The staff has always been one of the friendliest of any course I’ve been to. The conditions of the course are lagging compared to the other public courses in the Bluffton/Hilton Head area. The rough is very uneven, greens are missing grass in areas and are pretty inconsistent. The course doesn’t drain super well. All of that would be okay if the tee times were priced accordingly. It’s a crime to charge $40 to play a round at Rose Hill, especially in the winter. There are so many courses in the area that charge the same or less than Rose Hill but are in far better condition (just look on GolfNow) I don’t get it. Also prices don’t go down in the afternoon like other courses. Rates were not always this high, it used to be you paid for what you got at Rose Hill, now you’re paying more than what you get. I would still play here on a deal time, but I would implore you to spend your money elsewhere.
Not as good as past years
I was hoping my experience last year at Rose Hill was just a bad day, but based on the conditions of the course today, I would have to say I was disappointed. 5 years ago I thought this course was a great value for its condition. Now, the prices and the deals are much higher and the course conditions continue to degrade. There are multiple greens in bad shape. The layout is good, but the condition of the traps and greens are poor, especially compared to many other courses charging a similar rate. If by chance you get a great bargain, then I guess you get what you pay for. What bothered me right from the start is when the golf clubs were taken from me at the drop off and then dropped onto the ground. Very disappointed. Anyway, I can only hope the greens improve and the attendants take good care of your clubs.
