Rose Hill Golf Club
About
Rose Hill Golf Club in Bluffton is situated amongst plentiful live oaks draped with Spanish moss. There are also sparkling, crystal-clear lakes that come into play on several holes. The golf course is a part of Rose Hill Plantation, giving it a truly Southern look and feel. Most of the holes are flat and straightforward but there are a few tricky doglegs to keep the course interesting. The layout features formidable par 3s that will test even the best players and a notably difficult par 5 that measures just over 600 yards. The challenging holes are balanced with player-friendly features that make it versatile enough for a wide range of skill levels. Four sets of tees, the longest coming to just over 6,900 yards, make Rose Hill Golf Club even more accessible.

Greens
The greens are useless. You can’t truly play a game here. The greens are truly garbage. Pace of play was insane. A group of 4 people held us and 6 other groups for 3 holes. We had to skip them. They need to lower the price to play here, or fix the course.
Good course, but not for $40
I’m a local who has played this course probably 15 times. I used to come play once a week when I was learning and working on my game. I enjoy the layout. The back 9 can be very challenging. The staff has always been one of the friendliest of any course I’ve been to. The conditions of the course are lagging compared to the other public courses in the Bluffton/Hilton Head area. The rough is very uneven, greens are missing grass in areas and are pretty inconsistent. The course doesn’t drain super well. All of that would be okay if the tee times were priced accordingly. It’s a crime to charge $40 to play a round at Rose Hill, especially in the winter. There are so many courses in the area that charge the same or less than Rose Hill but are in far better condition (just look on GolfNow) I don’t get it. Also prices don’t go down in the afternoon like other courses. Rates were not always this high, it used to be you paid for what you got at Rose Hill, now you’re paying more than what you get. I would still play here on a deal time, but I would implore you to spend your money elsewhere.
Not as good as past years
I was hoping my experience last year at Rose Hill was just a bad day, but based on the conditions of the course today, I would have to say I was disappointed. 5 years ago I thought this course was a great value for its condition. Now, the prices and the deals are much higher and the course conditions continue to degrade. There are multiple greens in bad shape. The layout is good, but the condition of the traps and greens are poor, especially compared to many other courses charging a similar rate. If by chance you get a great bargain, then I guess you get what you pay for. What bothered me right from the start is when the golf clubs were taken from me at the drop off and then dropped onto the ground. Very disappointed. Anyway, I can only hope the greens improve and the attendants take good care of your clubs.
Waste of money
Horrible shape. Weeds covered most greens. Very thin fairways. Huge bare areas on the greens. Tee box was a hunt for grass. Dont waste your money here.
Two differnt 9s
Overall course needs work especially the greens. The front nine has some good holes but the back nine is championship caliber as to layout and difficulty. The low price with the challenge of the back nine makes this a recommended course which could be substantially improved with an upgrade of the greens and overall course maintenance.
Rose Hill golf
Brand new clubhouse. I think I would have put more $$$ into the golf course. Some holes were good others were terrible. Some of the greens are beyond repair, the course layout is excellent but... ......that being said hopefully they will make it.
too bad
light rain or drizzle for the 18, no choice, can’t get a refund. Positive side, pace of play was excellent.
Nice course, but...
Greens need work. Nice layout. Challenging mix of sand & water hazards.
Greens need work
Course on a whole needs a ton of work. Greens really need to be rebuilt . Looks like fungus and blight has taken holed
it has been 2 years
It has been 2 years since I played here last.
Very nice club house!.
Bummer we had to wait 20 minutes for 2 hot dogs!?
Play was very slow?!
We were a twosome, following a twosome and followed by a twosome.
Greens were rough.
Price is right?!
Conditions, conditions,conditions
Course is in poor condition. Tee boxes are ok. Sand traps ok. The rest is bad. Fairways have very sparse grass. Besides not much grass, they are muddy. The greens are the worst part. Bare in many spots. Other areas have sand but not sure why. One hole had more than two inches of sand to try to putt through. Others has almost no grass just little tufts that made the ball jump all over. The few ones with grass for the ,most part needed to be mowed. The greens look like they have been in this type of condition for a while too. This was confirmed by some course employees also. A real shame because layout is good and clubhouse is brand new and very nice. People were pleasant also. Just in dire need of maintainence. Rates are cheap but for good reason. Would not recommend playing this course.
Rose Hill review
My dad told me once - if you don’t have anything nice to say - keep your mouth shut and say nothing. So - All I will say is this course is in bad shape. The only thing good about it is the pace of play - because no one was there on a gorgeous Friday afternoon!
Rose Hill
Course was in very poor condition - especially front nine, and compared to other courses in the area. Several greens were un-playable, many tees were mud. May had a bad fall and winter but course is not ready to play
In and around the course
Some of the fairways are damaged and a few greens are severely damaged! The course layout great for low handicap players. The new club house is amazing, some of the bunkers can use additional sand and maintenance before 12:00!
