About
Timberlake Country Club in Chapin sits on the shores of Lake Murray, just outside of Columbia in the Midlands of South Carolina. The classic design is reminiscent of traditional Scottish links courses, featuring a combination of water and pot bunkers as well as large grassy swales. The golf course sprawls across rolling hills, which provide plenty of contours and elevation changes. From the elevated tees, golfers will have a dramatic view of the rugged landscape. The golf course is mostly open though there are a few stands of mature trees that can be troublesome if you're not careful. The cavernous bunkers and carefully molded mounding present formidable challenges that will test even the best golfers. In addition to the golf course, Timberlake also offers a full driving range and practice green as well as tennis courts and an Olympic-sized swimming pool.

Good course, but pro and managers are horrible
Played today, course semi crowded. A 5-some was holding up our group of three, another 3-some, and a twosome. We asked a course worker if they could go ask them if could play through, the fivesome said no its a holiday they can wait. At the turn we asked the pro and the managing partner if they could go talk to them. They refused and said it was a non issue. Each golfcart has a sign reminding groups to let faster groups play through so the course must know some golf etiquette, to bad they wont enforce it. Wont be back here.
Impressed
For the price I got on this course it was nothing short of amazing. Fairways were great, course was well maintained, greens were true <running maybe a speed 7-8> but a little furry. Cant blame the keeper on that one, it's really hot and they are more than likely trying to protect them. Great course, great value, friendly staff. Final score 79.
Improving
Timberlake has a new head of golf operations who is improving the course. Fairways and greens are very good now. There are some greens that do not hold well but they are committed to improve that. Only course on lake Murray with some Great Lake views and interesting holes.
Excellent Challenge!
From tee to greens, conditions are some of the best in SC. The layout is never boring and fair if you hit good golf shots. Will continue to play this course a couple of times a month. Worth the drive from the Upstate.
Excellent course
My only complaint is that I missed the sign for the 1st hole so it took some time to find it. More of a me problem than a fault of the course. Staff was friendly and helpful. Course was well maintained despite the construction around.
Great Condition
Course is in great condition. Greens are firm and fast. Be prepared for putts to run out more than you think. I'll certainly play again.
Played masters week, this was the best course we played searching with golfadvisor for a decent course at an affordable price
We were impressed by the entire experience. Clubhouse, dining, pro shop were all top notch. High end homes surround the course but don’t make it tight at all. If I could have rescheduled my other tee times I would have only played here. The pro shop expected the course to improve in the coming months with new staff and the weather.

The course was in very good condition. What impressed me the most was the layout of each hole.

Fun course to play. Very friendly staff. Fairways had dormant grass but the greens were fairly quick. Would certainly play again when in the area.

Course was in good condition for this time of year. Greens were fast and putted true. Would be nice to see a few earlier Hot Deals. Overall a fun round of golf and I would recommend playing the course.
Nephew and I wanted to golf some where different, I wanted him to experience a great course ,under the condition of all the rain we had,it was cart path only but we had a blast! It was in great shape considering the temp and weather. The only thing I would add is to have better markings or layout of course in a booklet! That would be helpful. But it was great shape ! Will golf again!!!

Course was in great shape even though it rained all night before our tee time.
Thay have the best new carts well taken care of. Only thing that needs attention is the cart paths.

Beautiful course!
Today we played and it was a rainy day but it was warm and we managed to play whole round. Our first time here but we hope we can get back some time to play again. Great course and in great shape! It was very wet but there is grass everywhere so no muddy areas on course. What staff we saw was friendly! Highly recommend!

I don't know if it was the same group, but I was held up by a fivesome as well where they were trying to teach and young boy and a female, neither of whom appeared to be able to hit the ball 100 yards with any club. The lack of courtesy should be an embarrassment because everyone I encountered was friendly and welcoming, including staff and the member I played my first nine holes with. Course was in really good shape, although the greens could have been faster (not that they were bad, but I'm used to Bermuda having more pace than these). Unfortunately, this is the kind of attitude you sometimes find with a club that has members who look down on the fact the course has to have some public play to survive.
I'm looking forward to playing here again, but I fully understand your feelings.
