About
Timberlake Country Club in Chapin sits on the shores of Lake Murray, just outside of Columbia in the Midlands of South Carolina. The classic design is reminiscent of traditional Scottish links courses, featuring a combination of water and pot bunkers as well as large grassy swales. The golf course sprawls across rolling hills, which provide plenty of contours and elevation changes. From the elevated tees, golfers will have a dramatic view of the rugged landscape. The golf course is mostly open though there are a few stands of mature trees that can be troublesome if you're not careful. The cavernous bunkers and carefully molded mounding present formidable challenges that will test even the best golfers. In addition to the golf course, Timberlake also offers a full driving range and practice green as well as tennis courts and an Olympic-sized swimming pool.

Good challenge but fair.
Greens were fast and the fairways well kept. The course layout next to the lake made for a wonderful backdrop. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. Worth a visit.
I think the course is not being maintained as it should. The tee boxes are bad, the traps were horrible with very little sand and washed out., no excuse even with the amount of rain.
Winter conditions prevailed
Considering the time of year the round was acceptable. However, the greens were hard, dry and running. The pace was inconsistent - we had foursomes & fivesomes pressing us.
What a great course for $20
Recently moved to SC. Played several courses and found Timberlake to be the best for the money I pay for... Really recommend to anyone who is new to SC...
Good course, decent shape, no restaurant available
The course has a good layout and some holes with very good views, it is challenging for the average golfer, The fairways and greens are in decent shape but do need a bit more tending and need to be watered more often. The cart paths are in deplorable shape. There is no restaurant or snack bar available on Sundays.
Beautiful course
I really like this course. It challenges you which I like. The fairway was great but in the fall hard to find your balls because of the leaves
Golf on the Lake
Course was in good shape for the fall. Still some green around, but the sand traps were a bit hard (packed). We had a great time.
Fast Greens
Played this course many times. It’s in good shape and a joy to play there. Greens for me are very fast so tough to putt. Some greens are hard and tough to hold but it’s a great course. The only golf course on Lake Murray.
Good condition
Excellent course for the money. Member owned and in good shape. Greens very very fast which made it difficult. Some greens don’t hold well and some do. Only course on Lake Murray. Many holes have great views of the lake.
Tight
Nice facility from what we saw. The course was later out well as far as fairways but no room for error because it seemed that they built houses first and had to squeeze a golf course in between. As a first time player of the course, course layout on the scorecard or on hole markers would have been extremely helpful. Greens rolled well. Looked like a tough man tourney that weekend based on pins. ...would have been good to know as we started but became evident early on. If you play, pair up with a member unless you ride ahead on almost every hole.

Beautiful day for golf. Course very enjoyable and in great shape.
WOW Don't pass this one up if you are in the area
Excellent design with 6 memorable holes (4,12,15,16,17,18) on Lake Greenwood. Absolutely play it!!!
The Snake
As a local, I've been playing this course since it opened. Was once a par 72 now a 71 to make room for tennis courts. This course is tight as a tick on a hound dog and will eat you up if you miss the fairways. The course has seen its ups and downs as far as upkeep but It is in It's best shape ever. I highly recommend this course.
