Chester Golf Club

Chester is hidden in the woods amongst a group of factories, but it was actually a pretty fun little layout. That is, if you exclude the loud freight train horns.

It’s an older classic design that’s easily walkable without a ton of real estate between holes. There are a bunch of doglegs in both directions, which force golfers to create shots, but not much in terms of elevation changes. There is, however, a good amount of water, mostly guarding the greens.

The course was very playable and fairly easy, but the greens were undulating, tricky, and actually pretty small. Definitely recommend that golfers take the time and try to hit shots below the hole as much as possible.

Still, for being a rural course, it’s an easy drive from Charlotte and Columbia, and I would return for another round in the summer. I wouldn’t expect pristine conditions, but for a good price, it’s worth a play.

Played as a foursome and really enjoyed the round. This course has become somewhat of a go to for us now. Year round course conditions are always good and pace of play is great. A few tee boxes and bunkers could use help, but otherwise nothing to complain. Bunkers don't drain well, but that seems to be a problem across most the Charlotte area courses during this wet winter. Would definitely recommend.

For winter golf Chester is in great shape.I have always loved the layout and the fact that there are no houses on the course.The staff are awesome and I will definitely be back to play again.

Course was not crowded (this was Thanksgiving day). Greens were in good shape, not terribly fast but rolled well. Bunkers were firm. Fairways were in good shape. It was an enjoyable round.

This is not an overpowering course but it has some very tricky holes that require a good shot of the tee and an accurate shot to the green. Speaking of greens, great condition and fast but true.

Perfect location to get away from the hustle of city life. Very relaxing and pleasant. Great greens and running true to form. Fairways are dormant but well groomed. Challenging layout with many tree lined fairways. Not very penal if in the woods. Recommend it for a lazy day of golf with friends. Get a drink after and relax some more in the new lounge.

Course is in excellent shape. Fun layout that doesn;t require driver on every hole. The greens rolled smooth and true. The clubhouse staff was very friendly & accommodating. Highly recommend.

Good layout, diverse set of holes, great staff- focused on you having a good experience. I have been there a variety of times and the pace of play has been great. Always fun to play at Chester. Thanks to the staff for a fun golf experience.

Wonderful layout, fairways, and greens. Great staff. Pace of play was very slow. There should have been a ranger to keep some twosomes and threesome moving. Had to quit after 15

Would love to come back and play again when pace is better

I play here all the time. Course is in good shape. Staff is very friendly. Overall good experience every time.

Today was a pleasure at Chester

I got stuck behind a very slow mini-tournament so I was forced to leave after 16 holes.

Other than that, Chester is always a winner!

Great course with a great staff. Really enjoy playing here. Try to play bout once a week. My daughter likes going with me. She like to ride. Nice course is in good shape and has a great layout.

I'm one of the Founders if CGO (Carolina Golf Organization) and I see and play several Golf Courses. The course is in Great condition. The greens are looking beautiful and rolling even nicer.

The Hospitality from the Club Pro Wes is absolutely Amazing. Great customer service makes you want to return. Trust me you won't be disappointed with spending 18 holes out there whether you're in the 70s or 100s.

The staff are very friendly and supportive. The course is in great shape for this time of year, and play was easy and smooth. The price was great for a course in such nice shape!
