About
Santee National Golf Club possesses all of the charms of the Carolina Lowcountry but it is also nicely contrasted with highland terrain. The course sprawls across rolling hills covered with moss-draped live oaks that demand accuracy. Both the scenery and the challenges continue with pristine white sand bunkers that stand out against the lush greens. There are also five sparkling lakes throughout that come into play on several holes. The front nine is wide open but the course narrows as you move onto the back nine and it also becomes more wooded. It is a tough golf course but more forgiving than it seems. As the only Golf Digest 4-star rated course in the area, Santee National has a longstanding reputation with locals and it is also popular with visitors.

Course is in good condition
Course was in good condition. The club pro let us go off the back to avoid a 20 member shotgun start group which would of made the day really long. If I could change something, add distant markers. Only had 150 markers.
Awesome course!
My son and I made the trip from Columbia several times. It is a great place to play. The course is well maintained and the greens are spectacular! The staff is very friendly and make this course a must play.

Fun course
First time in the area. I loved the layout. I guess they've had a lot of rain lately as a lot of the bunkers were full of water and all needed attention. The fairways are impeccable. Greens are still healing from aeration. Staff was super friendly. Had a blast and recommend...

Lush and beautiful course with rolling landscape and wide fairways. Greens recently aerated and trying hard to come back so every hole was a two-putt and pick it up. Lee at the Pro Shop was helpful and friendly, and got us out fast. We really enjoyed the round, and would recommend it to everyone.
My wife would like to see a few more water stations especially on this 90 degree day.
When the greens come back this will be a 5-star course and I will come back and play it again.

Great Course
This was my first time playing here and I couldn't be more satisfied . The fairways and greens are in really good condition. So good I played an additional 18 for 36 holes!. This Fathers day trip was excellent I will definitely make sure to play this Gem again. PS free range balls and $10.00 replay. A++

Great course, very good condition. Only problem was the sand traps were less than average, some unplayable. Had a very good time and would recommend this course to anyone looking for a nice course at a good value.

Great Time, Great Course!
The fairways were superb and the greens were in perfect condition. We enjoyed everything about this course and We will be back despite the hour long drive from northeast Columbia. It was worth it! I highly recommend this course.

Value for money
There has been a lot of rain in the area lately and tax lot of the bunkers are full of water, but the green are excellent and 90% of the fairways are well drained.
Good pace of play , about a 4 hour round.

Perfect day of golf
Very playable for all levels of golfer..... staff was very friendly
Enjoyed the course
We had played this course in the fall of last year and tried it again on Sunday. The staff was very accommodating with getting us started. The problem was 3 groups on the 5th hole! I called the pro shop and was told they would try to do something. When we finished the 9th hole (after 2 1/2 hours), the pro said it was "vacation" golf and some were playing slow. He did make one group move up a hole and it helped on the back nine. Round was 4hrs and 45 min. Course had a fair amount of Poa Annua in the fairways and some on the greens that did not respond to the insecticide they used this year! They plan to treat it different next year. Greens did have some "bare" spots that were quick (especially downhill) and but in general, they were a decent speed.
Hot dogs and Sausage dogs were quick and delicious!
Greens Determined The Conditions
The staff was super nice and honest about playing condition of the greens, and a true golfer must respect the honest. The staff show us about the condition of greens with low rates. I guess since I had just played Lake Marion SUPERB Golf Course, I expected the same thing here. Overall Santee National is a decent track.
Enjoyable day
I was staying 20 minutes away in Orangeburg and it was raining as I was wondering if I could play. I called course and the pro, David, told me weather in South Carolina is fickle, despite rainy forecast. I took the drive, David sent me off the 10th tee so I couldn't have to be behind a group of 12 and just as I finished 18 holes (on number 9), it began to rain again. Owners should be proud of David; he'd never seen me but treated me like a member. Enjoyed course though wet, would play again when I'm in South Carolina.
