Santee National Golf Club possesses all of the charms of the Carolina Lowcountry but it is also nicely contrasted with highland terrain. The course sprawls across rolling hills covered with moss-draped live oaks that demand accuracy. Both the scenery and the challenges continue with pristine white sand bunkers that stand out against the lush greens. There are also five sparkling lakes throughout that come into play on several holes. The front nine is wide open but the course narrows as you move onto the back nine and it also becomes more wooded. It is a tough golf course but more forgiving than it seems. As the only Golf Digest 4-star rated course in the area, Santee National has a longstanding reputation with locals and it is also popular with visitors.

Diamond in the rough

Cold start/frost delay. That’s what you should expect in January!! 11:10 tee time and the starter got everyone off within 45 min from their original tee time. Fantastic day. Staff was extremely courteous and kind for such a cold morning. Will play again!!

Great Shape

The course was in tremendous shape for this time of year. The greens were rolling absolutely perfect and fast. Most places in December do not have greens like that. Everything else was in great shape. It was during the week after rain so it was like we had the course to ourselves. For the price, I have yet to find a course that is in this type of shape in the winter. Make the trip if you are looking for a great course at a great price.

It’s just great

The course was great my friends and I we play together two friends came from North Carolina. One friend drove from Covington Georgia, and I came from Summerville South Carolina. We had an excellent time. We already talking about doing it again. The clubhouse attendant was great. The course was great the greens was fast, but they was also wonderful to put on. Can’t wait to go to to do it again

Decent layout.

We reached the course an hour early, we had drove up from the Tampa FL area. So we asked if we could go out then and was told the course was fully booked, so we had to wait. During the first 30 mins, only a twosome went out. So after 30 mins I inquired again and we were told we could go out.

The front 9 played okay, nothing spectacular about the course. The greens were inconsistent, some played faster than others. After we finished the front, we got to the back and there was a group on the 10th green, a group in the fairway and a group on the teebox, with a single also waiting to hit, who we had let play through. So the 1st tee was wide open and we decided to play the front again. We did get chastised for doing that, but was allowed to play. There was a twosome behind us and they told us we did not hold them up.

Everyone who we worked there that we came in contact with had a negative attitude. So that is why, I wouldn't recommend the course. I just want to play golf, not have someone who takes there job to seriously, to think they can speak to me disrespectfully.

Great course but terrible pin placement

Overall this is an amazing course. I’m not sure why but the pin placements were absolutely terrible but the greens are in good condition. Most of the pin placements were on a slope in the back of the green. I’m not sure if they had a greens keeper revenge tournament earlier in the day or something but it sure felt like it. I would definitely play this course again when the pins are relocated.

Everything was perfect. Only criticism is the cart path on the back nine is in need of repairs.

First time player

Course was in great shape considering time of year.

Counter help was very courteous and polite.

Would have like to seen better yard marking and there was no marshal to keep track of slow play

Front nine took over 3 hrs to play resulting in not enough time to finish round before running out of daylight

Best around for the money!

Worth driving from Columbia for a nice Saturday morning round. Paired up with a nice group and pace of play was reasonable. Will continue to come back as I have for several years. 5⭐️
