The Club at Pine Forest
About
The 18 semi-private holes at Pine Forest wind through the tall Summerville pines with numerous live oaks, dogwoods and a lake system thrown in for good measure. With an equal balance of straightaways, doglegs and elevation changes, this course is nicely balanced, with challenges and fun in store for golfers of all levels. Rental clubs and electric carts are available.
At 6,905 yards with a 138-slope rating, Pine Forest lives up to its name, as the course has numerous barriers of tall Summerville pines to cause problems for an errant shot. The Bob Spence design also makes use of water to add to the difficulty of some holes. It's a semi-private course, and they've named each hole, with No. 12 being known as "Little Augusta" while No. 15 is "Wastelands."

Sad Conditions for a very good course.
Moved my son to Charleston and got out for a round of golf. Spring break, absolutely perfect weather, so limited availability. Should have booked prior to the trip. Took what we could get, drove out to Summerville, but when you get A $42 deal, when everything else is booked or $90 plus, it is buyer beware. In an upscale community, houses in the 800K range, a nice and challenging layout, but the course is in terrible condition. I've seen asteroids that had less bumps and craters than these greens. And these green had serious slopes, similar to the Castle Course in St. Andrews if you've ever been there. Limited fairway grass, approaches were off hardpan. In spite of this the course was packed. The golf boom is a real thing. Needs a new owner, shut down for a year to re-grass the entire course. In good condition this would be a 4 star course.
Winter blah
I enjoyed the topography and shape of the course but in its current conditions it is tough to muster anything positive.
The fairways have not grown in yet and the sparse dormant grass present made it tough to score a good shot.
The greens are blotchy and bare in spots and prevents you from reading, let alone making, a putt.
The previous days rain forced cart path only conditions which was definitely warranted, but the condition of them is horrible.
All in all this is a neighborhood course that the neighborhood forgot about…. Best of luck, but I doubt I’ll return.
All fairway were brown and hard like hitting off a road. Greens were spotty with grass. Not the best shape.
Challenging but a must play
Lots of hills, sand and water makes this course challenging but with hole management a satisfying round can be had. Younger legs to walk the course. Cart paths and sign directions are spot on.
Decent course...great value
Best value in Summerville area. Course/greens were a bit wet/rough, but that's expected in January. Staff are friendly and helpful. Other amenities/features...range, putting green, clubhouuse, pool, etc...are solid. Note...range was still closed in Jan...don't know whenm it will open. Very walkable...greens and tees are much more connected than other neighborhood courses (you know, those where you have to drive 1/4 mile to get to next green. I'll be back
Best Bang for your Buck
I enjoy playing this course when I’m in the area. Besides being the best price, the course is quite a unique layout, forcing you to hit to mostly elevated, undulating greens. As an older player who now hits it lower and shorter, this poses some real challenges. Nevertheless, I enjoy the challenge.
The greens were soft and littered with unrepaired ball marks. But they putted true enough. The rest of the course was in decent enough condition given the season. I found I could still play the ball down and only picked up mud when I hit foul balls into the rough, especially around the greens.
I’d recommend anyone play this course, if only to experience the interesting layout. And, while not exactly cheap, it is the best deal in the Charleston/Summerville area. Staff are good, too.
Great to Play on New Year's Eve
Was able to snag a Hot Deal for the course and was glad to get out and play. Due to recent heavy rain, the course was very wet, but playable.Would definitely recommend and would play again.
Don’t waste your money
The condition of this course is completely pitiful. The greens are not even greens. It’s like putting on fringe. The tee boxes are just as bad. The rates they charge for a course in that condition is outrageous. I know it’s winter but I just played Santee National last week and the conditions of that course were amazing and they still charge less than this place.
If you have an extra 30 minutes , drive to Santee National and avoid these horrible course conditions and overcrowded course.
Pine Forest
A very nice course, challenging yet golfer friendly. I will play there again and recommend it. A fun course.
Very Friendly staff
This course isn’t always in the best of shape, but the staff and even the members are always welcoming. I play here for that reason.
Nice course
My wife and I drove 2 and a half hours down from Myrtle beach and we weren't disappointed. For fall golf the course was in great shape. Fun track, I felt like it was forgiving if you missed a tee shot. Greens a bit small and very slopey . Staff were very nice
Day after Turkey day
Long round ona cold day. Greens were inconsistent. I think everyone comes out on this day.
