The Club at Pine Forest
About
The 18 semi-private holes at Pine Forest wind through the tall Summerville pines with numerous live oaks, dogwoods and a lake system thrown in for good measure. With an equal balance of straightaways, doglegs and elevation changes, this course is nicely balanced, with challenges and fun in store for golfers of all levels. Rental clubs and electric carts are available.
At 6,905 yards with a 138-slope rating, Pine Forest lives up to its name, as the course has numerous barriers of tall Summerville pines to cause problems for an errant shot. The Bob Spence design also makes use of water to add to the difficulty of some holes. It's a semi-private course, and they've named each hole, with No. 12 being known as "Little Augusta" while No. 15 is "Wastelands."

Challenging Course, excellent staff, excellent course
I have played rounds in numerous states and courses within. After moving to Charleston permanently, I had a free day to play the course again with a friend. Just as the first time, excellent upkeep, extremely friendly and knowledgeable employees, and a challenge for any amateur or seasoned player; with holes such as mini Augusta leaving a smile on your face. Will for sure be looking into a membership soon!
Great value
Nice layout. Lots of rain lately created some muddy areas, but not too bad. We enjoyed our round and would play again
Best In Charleston Area
The best by far in the Charleston area. Augusta like. Gorgeous, tough. Ins
Challenging course could use some maintenance
This was a challenging golf course with plenty of water especially on the back 9. The greens were quite slow and it could be due to heavy rainfall. Overall they probably needed to be rolled and cut. Some better maintenance around the bunkers as well as fairway's. This was definitely a great bang for the buck, as I got a good deal on Golfnow due to my membership having the extra $10 credit. I will definitely look to play this course again in the future.
Jabdilla
The course handled all the recent rain just fine.it was cart path only.layout was difficult but fair.nice course
Beautiful Course
Had to ask twice to be allowed to go out before our scheduled tee time as there was no one on the tee and we were trying to beat the rain which ultimately won out after 9 holes but the course is beautiful. Still not in optimal shape but not bad for the time of year. Lots of water.
Great course layout but very slow pace of play
Scheduled tee time for 1:59. Paired with 1:52 pair but we did not tee off until 2:30. Had to wait several minutes on every tee box. Finished 9 holes at 5:15. Never got to the back 9. They did give us rain check for 9 holes. Pro shop staff were friendly and the course layout was excellent with tight fairways and fast undulating greens. A great challenge. Pace of play took away from the overall experience. I would recommend course but avoid weekend afternoons if you want to play 18.
Awful Conditions March '23
I've been playing golf for 40 years. This course ranked in the bottom 3 courses I've ever played in terms of the on-course conditions. Do not expect anything lush about fairways or greens. Expect bare patches, rock-hard ground, greens that do not hold, unmowed and damaged tee boxes, and uneven cuts throughout the course.
I was in town and wanted to get out for a quick round. I rented clubs from the course, which ended up being a mis-matched set of Wilson and Cobra clubs that were NOT clean. I had to scrape caked-on mud off of them myself before I went out to play.
Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. I have NO IDEA how this course has 3.8 stars unless these ratings are from another era entirely. But, currently, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who cares about course conditions.
Pace of Play
I have been playing PF for many years. There was a point in time I did not play it for several years due to conditions. They have improved and have been going back for several years now. There some things about course conditions that just come from being in the low country.
However, the big issue is pace of play. If you are playing after noon, you will have a long round. This was the case for us with a 1:07p time. After 5 hours, we stopped after finishing the 16th hole. As stated, having played there a lot, I knew we were in for a long round when there were 3 groups in front of us on 1 (one on the box and two waiting). We did get up relatively close to our time.
