Overall pretty nice course
The greens were a little rough in spots but overall pretty good. The course had taken a lot of rain recently and still had some wet spots. The layout provides a good challenge. There are lots of hills and rolling fairways and the greens have a lot of "character " so putting can be a challenge. Great folks running the show out there. Made us feel right at home. Overall pretty enjoyable round. .
Tale of two nines
This course was fun to play. It is one of those courses that isn't too long so they used a couple of tricks to make sure it's not too easy. The front nine has a lot of hazards in play off the tee which makes you think about the placement of your tee shot and not just hit it as hard as you can. The back nine has friendlier tee shots but has more trees left and right. It almost felt like the two nines were completely different courses, which was fun!
Course coditions
The couse is in good shape. As always the greens provide a putting challenge, very few flat spots ball position is critical.
I have played the front and back a few times and would suggest that rough and OB areas be cleaned up there is alot of debris.
This is a great course for a 1st timer
First time I have ever played golf. The staff was friendly and other player where patient and friendly as well. Being a first timer not sure how this course lay out is compared to others, but the other players and staff being friendly and helpful really makes a difference when you are trying it for the first time. I had a great time and plan to go back as soon as I can. I believe I found a new hobby that I am going to enjoy.
One of the best I've played in the area
Course was in good shape and has some very though holes. Good course of your a long distance hitter.
Course in bad shape
played this course a few months ago and the condition was pretty good. Played today and this course is in pretty tough shape. The greens were all bumpy and not consistent. The fairways were spotty with lots of bare spots. The golf course has a great layout but they need to put more money into the maintenance of the course or they will lose a lot of golfers business. I'm sure they made a bundle with the removal of all the pine trees throughout the course. Spend some of that dough and make the course nice again!
Indian River is well maintained
The overall course is great. I think the counter staff could have been more friendly. True condition of there course was great .
Indian River
the course itself is in really good shape. The staff was friendly and the greens were fast. However, it is a tough tough course. A few of the par 5's were fairly short so that helped a little, but you still can't score here. The greens have huge mounds all over so most amateurs are gonna 3 putt and least 4 or 5 times. The greens were hard too so your irons won't stick. I hit several right by the hole that kept rolling and rolling until they trickled off the back of the green. I have this course a high rating since it's pretty well kept and the staff were friendly but I didn't have fun. I will not go again. If you want a real challenge, try it out. If you want to have fun, go to linrick.
WOW
$15 dollars using Golf Now, wow!! Staff is always friendly, the course always in good shape and fun to play. They punched the greens two weeks ago and they are looking good. Still a little sand but did not effect any put. I talked with greens crew and they goal is to be beautiful in all ways about the first week in July. I have no complaints about anything now, I can't wait until July. If you have not played here..."go play."
Good Bargain
Above average course. Great deal for the price. Better be a good putter. Huge greens with many breaks.
This is the best place to play golf in Columbia area
Had played several golf courses, this is the best course I had played. Love this course so much, especially the 7th hole, which is end with the lake. if you chip it harder and deeper, the ball will fly into the lake.
Seriously - last reviews tricked me
Well it has been years since this boy has played Indian River....The POSITIVE - Amazing Course Layout- great design....poor course conditions - tee boxes hard no turf, fairways worn - no turf, no turf repair sand on carts- guess they really don't care, doesn't seem irrigated, greens best part and that is not saying much. The course has LOTS of potential to be a great course but improvements need to be made to properly water the grass. Now most of us wish reviews to stick to the golf course...but I have to venture to the snack bar....DO NOT GET THE ANGUS (SPAM)HAMBURGER.....it is a 1min30second frozen patty your college kids wouldn't eat...the attendant as I said NO I DONT WANT IT ....said trust me...everyone loves them.....think elementary school burger and twentytwo steps down from that - too bad 1 star is the lowest I can vote on food and beverage....let's face it, not every place can have a 5 star canteen....but this item should not even be on the menu...stick to peanuts and hotdogs.
So if you can get a golfnow rate for under 20, don't mind terrible fairways, and LOVE scenic views of woods/swamp, and need a place to escape the family...then go on out for a round. Again the course layout is AMAZING...well thought out and some tricky holes with hidden tee shots.
STAFF- Add SAND mix to your carts - care about the turf....add ball washers at ALL tee boxes. IRRIGATE your course. I PLAYED 05 25 2015...and know april and early may lots of rain...I can't imagine how bad things would be without that rain...lots of dust!
Good Value
Good Value for the price. Front nine in great shape. Back nine greens were a little spotty. Can't beat the price though.
Course was in very good shape
Played Sunday 5/10/15, tee time was at 10:12 we played as a twosome and finished in right at 3.5 hours so pretty quick for a weekend. The greens were good and rolled true, the fairways were also in good shape. We used the golfnow app and got a very good deal.
Can't beat it
Course is always in great shape. I've played in 40 degree weather and 80 degrees and it always looks great. Fun layout. Always in great shape. A must play!!!
This is a hilly course which makes it challenging on several holes.
Course was in dcent condition for the early season and quite a bit of rain recently. Greens were nice. Good value through GolfNow.
Course was In good shape
Great staff. Play was slow but it was a vey nice day. There is not a flat green on the course so you have to beware of the pin placement. Will play there again very soon
Good value.
For winter condition the course is in good condition. Not a plush course but a wide variety of holes, Very large greens with many undulations and fast greens. Hit a par three shot which landed 5 feet from the hole and rolled down a hill 40 feet away. If you can play 18 holes and not three putt I will buy you a beer .
Really fun greens
Day we played they had topdressed the greens but they were still really quick and smooth. Greens are the best part of the course, lots of undulation on them. Really enjoyed it and can't wait to play it again.
