Challenging and fun course
Fortunate to play on a beautiful Indian Summer day in South Carolina. Excellent course with challenging undulations and unforgiving hazards. Greens for the most part rolled fast and true. Nice scenic holes where there is elevation. Holes are spread out, so probably not a walking course. Be weary for a couple of crumudgeon regulars there, they can be rather outspoken about where you ride your cart, and put unneeded pressure, playing fast behind you. Otherwise, great play for the money! Will definitely visit again, and again!!
A championship challenge for sure
This course was so fun and so challenging I don't know what to say about it. This time of year the fairways are dormant. That was the main problem and the tee boxes were in poor shape. BUT the layout of the course and the green complexes where superb! The club house and staff were awesome also! I doubt that I will ever be visiting that area again because I was in town for a soldier graduation. But if I were to return to the area I WILL be playing Indian River again!
G.O.A.T. (In Columbia)
no reason to play anywhere else, best club all around. Also very difficult compared to other near by clubs.
Excellent day
cool morning morphed into a warm afternoon and the golf kept getting better. The course is not long, but requires good shot making and short game execution by way of large, undulating and quick greens. Course conditions were near ideal, with a few exceptions. The overall experience was very good.
Great Track
Good course greens very fast, beautiful holes playing around the lake.
great time
Beautiful course that is fun to play. Wide fairways with large undulating greens. Course. Is in good condition and maintained well.
Well Kept
Haven't been in a year or so but the course is well kept. Especially compared to others in the surround Columbia area. The price is what helped influenced the 5 stars. Greens were nice and soft and in pretty good shape. Will be back again soon.
Undulating Fairways AND Greens with bunkers and/or water on both.
Loved this course! Well placed tee shots were still a challenge due to either up or down hill lie. Took my son-in-law visiting from the UK and we had a blast at this course... plenty of fairway and green side bunkers and water hazards. Greens in great shape but still a mother to sink!! Can't wait to go back...
Greens
Greens are in phenomenal shape. Fairways are choppy in areas, but they've had tons of rain lately. Overall, very pleased.
challenging course
Saw a group of players with jeans and boots playing. Thought there was a dress code.
Gem in Columbia
Very nice and challenging course. Will return to play when it dries out, it will be fantastic! even after a day of ran it was still a great round. Other reviews had complimented the staff, and they are correct - excellent staff and very helpful. The greens are quite challenging!
What a blast
This course is a blast, and much different from the other courses in the area because it has such large, undulating greens, and there are so many mounds in the fairway-it's hard to get an even lie. The wind comes into play a good bit since the back nine is open and the little lake kinda creates it. Not terribly long, but made up for with unusual shots from the undulations and hazards. Back nine reminded me a bit of the Ocean Course with wide fairways and all of its undulations and big greens. Course in good condition for the time of year; not a good walking course and pace of play was very slow, but it was Saturday. Weather was perfect. I'd say this is one of the must plays in Columbia.
Review
Best course for the money for the area meaning Casy
great course
This is a very nice course. This is the third time I've played it and you can't beat the cost. Staff is always happy and helpful.
Nice course
Nice course, great lay out. Par 3's are deceiving. They play long. Well kept course, big practice putting green. Driving range, $5 for a bag of balls. I'll be playing again soon
Let's be real.
The greens are really the only thing that is consistently above average on this course. They are quick and undulating. The rest of the course is below average from the crab grass to the bare spots in the fairways. It's hard enough with the fairways also having a lot of undulation. Just imagine finding a flat spot and your ball comes to rest in the fairway with a big crabgrass behind it. Maybe that could be considered an "unfortunate lie" -relaxed rule. Not that we were playing RR golf.
Give it a shot.
Having played spring valley CC two days prior, I wasn't expecting to be blown away by Indian river. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was about as friendly as I have seen in the area and the course was in great shape with the exception of a few sandy areas with roots( number 5 on the front) and the general slowness of the greens. Really had to pound a few putts to get it there. It's a fun course to play and good for all skill levels. Very challenging 563 yard par five on the back that requires three good shots to reach. All and all give it a try.
Great Course
A must play if you are in Columbia. Probably the best golf you can get for $30. I try to play here as often as I can. Great condition and great price
Fun and a Challenge
Love this course! Pace of play was great and the course was in great shape. The two downhill par 3's on the front side appear to be easy but beware. Really had fun!
