About
Sterling Hills Golf Club sprawls across acres of lush countryside surrounded by avocado groves and citrus orchards. The layout winds through the verdant hills between Oxnard and Ventura. The club opened in 1999 as the only public golf course in Ventura County. The layout is player-friendly enough for beginners to still feel comfortable but it also packs a considerable amount of challenges. The versatile layout balances areas of wide-openness with target-style golf. There is contoured mounding along the fairways and some interesting elevation changes. Thanks to the hilly terrain, there is hardly a flat lie to be found. Although Sterling Hills is still relatively young, there are some mature eucalyptus trees throughout. Golfers can warm-up on the driving range, chipping area, or putting green before the game since a bucket of range balls is included with the round.

Slow AF
I thought I would return there to see if it is still the slowest pace around, and it was. Horrible waiting,I left after 12 hole. Waste of time

I use to belong to Spanish Hills Country Club, but
had knee replacement and decided it would be best to withdraw my membership.
Now having golf the local golf courses, and recently playing at Sterling Hills,I don’t miss Spanish Hills!!

Super Windy, Super Fun
We were able to get out on an early Tee time on a very windy day. The course was super fun despite the wind, and since it was early, the pace was outstanding.
Everyone we interacted with was very friendly and helpful. Looking forward to getting back out there this winter.

Good value
The course is good and getting a lunch token is a plus. Pace of play is good. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Too many drying spots in the field of play. The fairways were full of leaves making it difficult to find the balls.
Not a good experience. Nobody told me that greens where just punched. Drinking water tastes pretty bad.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused during your visit. Thank you for bringing the issue with the greens to our attention, and we will work to better inform our customers about maintenance schedules in the future. Sterling Hills
I have nothing bad to say about this course and clubhouse...the course is great and the help is always nice...the only GLARING issue here is the new putting green. It's pathetic and I guess it means that the weddings are more important than the golf. The green is so sloped and usually in poor condition...not worth putting on it. Gotta be a better way.

They had some very slow players ahead of us. We couldn't finish our round. Not a good day on the course! It's usually very pleasant!

Randy the Starter
Great greens and pace of play. Variation of tee boxes is fun. But my god - If Randy isn't the worst starter I've ever encountered, I dont know if there is another person who could top him. He's the type of guy who's pleased to tell you bad news. Condescending jerk and I only spoke to him for less than a minute...what could I have possibly done in that short amount of time? Apparently nothing, because we asked around the other employees and they said that's not even the worst of him. He was upset we had a "Hot Deal" and decided to treat us like junk since we opted for a deal at the course. Not sure if Im very much enthused to go back to this course in the short term.
