About
Sterling Hills Golf Club sprawls across acres of lush countryside surrounded by avocado groves and citrus orchards. The layout winds through the verdant hills between Oxnard and Ventura. The club opened in 1999 as the only public golf course in Ventura County. The layout is player-friendly enough for beginners to still feel comfortable but it also packs a considerable amount of challenges. The versatile layout balances areas of wide-openness with target-style golf. There is contoured mounding along the fairways and some interesting elevation changes. Thanks to the hilly terrain, there is hardly a flat lie to be found. Although Sterling Hills is still relatively young, there are some mature eucalyptus trees throughout. Golfers can warm-up on the driving range, chipping area, or putting green before the game since a bucket of range balls is included with the round.

Camarillo Oasis
Great golf course. The fairways are wide and the greens are fast. The course provides (4) tee boxes to choose from. Beginners and novice golfers can all have a nice time.
The greens fees are a little pricey. The cart should be included for this price.
They offer lunch as a part of the fees. Choose from a burger, salad, sandwich, or hot dog. They come with chips. Drinks and fries or onion rings are extra. Order at the 8th hole and pick it up at the turn.
Overall our threesome had a fantastic time and we will play again!

Love this course!
The weather was perfect today and we had a great round of golf! It is serene views and a beautiful course to play at! We will be back as soon as we can ;-)
I noticed that they served alcohol around the course and noticed people getting drunk and did not pay attention to the game. People where nice, but It might be a limit for the servings :-/

Twilight play
My friend and I went to play a twilight round on a Tuesday late afternoon. All went well until we got to the second hole. We saw a group of 7 kids on one hole. Apparently there was a high school tournament going on, so we by passed them to the next hole only to find out this was the same for the next four or five holes, as we passed each hole until there was a hole that was not occupied by a bunch of kids. Don't get me wrong, I have no issues with kids playing golf. I was upset I wasn't told that when I was in the Pro shop paying for my round. They should have mentioned it and told us to play the back 9 first.
The reason that I am posting this is because I called to speak to the GM twice and he has not returned my calls. If he would have called me back I wouldn't have posted this review.

Over watering during play
I've played here 3 times in the last month. First two times we had an enjoyable time. This last time not so much. Our tee time was double booked. The starter did a great job of working that issue out. The real issue i had was with the irrigation. Sprinklers were on in front of us from the 6th hole until we finished. There were puddles in the fairways but even worse on the greens. I was very disappointed in this because you couldn't putt from some locations due to the excessive amounts of water. Hopefully they will re-think the amount of water being put on the greens during play.

Fun times at Sterling
This was a blast. Fun tee shots from the back tees. Good layouts, greens were in good shape. Fairways and rough were decent. Probably only room for improvement spot. Pairing we had was fun and pace of play was great. Definitely would reup.

Sterling Hills Rocks
Sterling Hills golf course is one of my favorite places to play golf. The course is always in good condition. The staff is friendly and courteous. The views are awesome. And you can’t beat the free lunch. I tell all my golfing friends that they have to check out this special. Can’t wait to golf there again.

Sterling Hills
10:30am start. Check in & Starter were especially pleasant folks. Tee boxes were in very good condition. Fairways were nice, not super lush, but good coverage. Rough not very deep, easy to hit out of. Rough near outskirts of the course gets dicey, mixed long weeds ect, but it's really far out. Greens were firm. Rolled really nice, med-fast. Collar areas cut very tight, in great shape. Bunkers fine, with an inch or 2 of loose sand on top of firmer ground. POP was around 4 hours. No drink cart on a Monday, don't know about other days. "Free" lunch with green fee. Food fine, although I would prefer less expensive round. Overall Sterling is in pretty good shape & I had a good time. I recommend & I'll be back!
