About
Sterling Hills Golf Club sprawls across acres of lush countryside surrounded by avocado groves and citrus orchards. The layout winds through the verdant hills between Oxnard and Ventura. The club opened in 1999 as the only public golf course in Ventura County. The layout is player-friendly enough for beginners to still feel comfortable but it also packs a considerable amount of challenges. The versatile layout balances areas of wide-openness with target-style golf. There is contoured mounding along the fairways and some interesting elevation changes. Thanks to the hilly terrain, there is hardly a flat lie to be found. Although Sterling Hills is still relatively young, there are some mature eucalyptus trees throughout. Golfers can warm-up on the driving range, chipping area, or putting green before the game since a bucket of range balls is included with the round.

Course in good shape, they are working to make it better, which is good to see. Play here weekly and it was the first time in months it wasn't a sloooww play day.( Marshall needed) Would love to see a a gate on the 10th hole for walkers, so we don't have to walk thru wet tunnel and speed up play. However the snack bar restaurant needs management no fries, onion rings, and half draft beer was out. Overall it was a pleasant day. See ya next week.

They ask 45 to walk or 60 to ride, "gouging", for this course!
They threw in lunch, but the chicken tenders {forgot the tender part} were over cooked or twice cooked? Like trying to eat a rock.
Better courses in ventura for sure.
Very Pleased
We played here for the first time and really enjoyed ourselves. Great staff, and the course was a fun one. Green fees include a nice lunch and a small bucket of balls. For $65.50/person, that also included the cart fee.

Greens are in pristine condition. Course is looking great with all the updates.
Great Value
This course is INEXPENSIVE! The greens are in great shape, and the rest of the course is adequate. The holes have a lot of character so it makes for some interesting choices. The worst thing about it is how slow it can play, but know that going in and enjoy how inexpensive it is to play 18 with a cart here! The carts do NOT have GPS, so bring your rangefinder. It can be windy here, but not all the holes are exposed so even on a windy day there are some holes where you'll get a reprieve from the breeze. At the turn there's a snack shop and you can go in and help yourself to ice and water to refill your water bottle. You can drive the cart out into the parking lot to load your clubs into your car when you're done.

Coastal Canyon Tournament
The staff is great, the course is challenging, even more so than usual with heavy winds. Played the back tees and the landing areas are great for good drives, trouble right and left on most holes but it is definitely playable if you keep the ball in play. If not, suffer the penalty as with any other course. It is a solid test of golf and a great bargain for the area.

I love this course. Not the hardest and not the easiest. It’s fair. Very well cared for. Greens are super even with the huge amount of play it gets. Love the staff. Personable and efficient. Clearly one of the better Los Angeles County courses. Wish it was closer. Far away from the San Fernando Valley but worth the drive.

New Favorite Course
I live in Newport Beach and there are loads of courses near me but Sterling Hills has become my new favorite. I drive about 1 hour and 20 minutes north and the drive is 100% worth the round of golf. You get a great pace of play, pristine fairways, great greens, and great bang for your buck. Love this place! I have played twice in the past month and already made another tee time to go back in another 2 weeks.
