Play Ft Belvoir Next Year
Course is being modified due to be museum construction. Course was not in great shape and the bunkers were terrible, as if they've given up on them. Try it after the renovation is complete.
Could be very nice
The course is currently under construction, so you play a combination of holes from the 3 nine hole courses to create a full 18. Overall the the course could be very nice, but the tees and fairways are in awful condition. The greens are in surprisingly good shape, but are so slow it takes a lot to convince yourself to hit it hard enough.
Hopefully this course will live up to its potential when the renovations are complete.
Good Course
Belvoir is currently under construction so the holes are split into three different 9 hole sections. The quality of the course is still very good, even with the construction (not to get confused, the holes that are open have zero work being done on them.) I played after 4:00pm and got the $20 rate which is a steal. The twilight pace of play can be a bit slow at times but is generally quick enough to get through 18 with a threesome if you start before 4:30.
Not how I remember
Joined FB for a year in the early 90's when they added the other 18. Was top notch then and had a nice club house. Nothing's changed in 20 years other than things looking run down. It has a lot of potential and they are apparently improving things. Coming in the gate is rough but that is the military and how things should be. I will come back if the price is right....Bob.
It is under reconstruction
You have to go to the main gate to check your background, it takes at least 30 min.
You play 18 but it is very annoying to follow up.
Fairway is very aweful. Very dissappointed.
A work in progress
First off, know to add an extra 45 minutes to your travel time because a pass is required for civilians entering the base. Once at the course the staff is friendly enough and offer a lot of information on how to navigate around the facilities. Pay attention. Course is under redesign and improvements. Not any where near a complete product but will be a Gem when completed. Four sets of nine holes will be inviting.
Decent if you're in the area
I've played Belvior a few times with military buddies but its now public so I figured I'd check in out since I haven't played it in a while. The rate seemed fair, but its just not worth the $56 that they were charging the day I played it in my opinion. They are doing construction currently on one of the courses so the course route is kind of funny right now as well. Overall just decent...pace of play was solid though as it was hardly anyone out on the course early on a Sunday morning.
waste of money and time
This course needs a lot of help. Fairways, rough and bunkers were a joke. Appeared no one does any maintenance here. Myself and my partner were quite surprised at the overall horrendous condition. We agreed that at 44.00 we will never come back and laughed that even if offered for 20.00 we still wouldn't be back. Course is also undergoing construction making it rough to navigate. Sunday play time 5 hours.
Under Construction
One of my favorite courses in DC to play, but the ongoing construction project has seriuosly impacted the overall play. The new set up is way too confusing and it seems that the course maintenance has suffered. I love this playing FB but I think I'll wait until the construction project is completed before I play here again.
It took 35 mins to get into the post
Please let the people know this course under construction and took lot of time to get into tha gate .
Stay away!! Horrible fairways, no yardage markers, course under construction
The two courses are under construction so you play 9 holes of each of the two courses here. The fairways are not taken care of. If you hit a FIR on most holes you are hitting off of dirt. The greens are filled with leaves and full of un-repaired divots. I will never play here again. Very disappointed
Not for beginners
A tough course which your beginners/high-handicappers will not do well on. You must be straight and have an excellent short game because of tight fairways and smallish greens. Overall conditions are muni-average and rumor has it that parts of the course may soon disappear to make way for another military museum (like anyone needs that).
Belvoir-Woodlawn Course
Woodlawn is the easier of the two Belvoir courses. It is also in much better shape. Bermuda fairways have grown in and the greens are excellent shape. The first two holes are relatively easy; but the course gets more difficult after that. Number 4 is a Par Five that can be reached with 2 well placed shots. Make sure you look at Numbers 9 and 10 before you hit your tee shot.. Number 11, a long Par 4, is the Signature Hole. You can play either course if you have a golfing friend with a DOD or Federal Government ID card. Cost is $40-$60.
Belvoir-Gunston Course
Gunston is the more difficult of the two Belvoir Courses. The Bermuda fairways are just now growing in. Greens are in excellent shape; although they were not mowed on Sunday and therefore very slow. Bunkers are difficult because of maintenance issues. Lazy members don't always rake. Golfers can get on if you have a golfing friend with a DOD or other Government ID. Cost with card $49-$60.
Just found out that courses are open to the Public. Golfers without a DOD ID card must enter through Tully Gate (off Rt 1) This could add about 10 minutes to your trip.

Seaview Stay & Play Golf Package
Have to update this review. Both courses are undergoing some work. Woodlawn is the best bet for this year. The greens remain in excellent shape; while the fairways are just about grown in. Things should be back to "normal" by next season.
