About
The 18-hole Dogwood Trace Golf Course (formerly known as Lee Park Golf Course) in Petersburg, VA is a public golf course. Stretching over 6600 yards from the back tees while playing to a par 72 the course features four different sets of tee boxes and can be enjoyed by players of all skill levels. Players will find extensive bunkering lakes and ponds with bulkheads that come into play on several holes and well-manicured challenging greens.

Overall the course was in really good condition for it being the middle of February. Despite it being extremely wet when I played it was still a good overall experience. The course plays short overall.

First time
I appreciate the course staff and some of the layout. But we had a 56 yard par 3. Ridiculous then followed by a 250 yard par 4.

Unpleasant Surprise
I made a reservation online. I wanted to use the VSGA VIP card for the round, but found out that the card rate is honored only if you call or visit the club to make your reservation. The course was backed up so it took over four and a half hours to finish eighteen holes, which is not the club's fault but still made for a less than pleasurable experience.

Nice fairways and roughs
Overall a nice course. Layout was a little funky but caught of quick. maybe more signs would be better. amazing greens.

Challenging and enjoyable.
Well above average for a municipal course. The greens are very nice , true and good pace. Be prepared for a 465 yd par 4 from the championship tees. Our group enjoyed Dogwood Trace. We’ll return!

Challenging for all levels. Great greens.
Very nice layout. A couple of long and challenging par 4s. We think the course plays well for all level amateur golfers. The greens are great but much better if ball marks are repaired! We will return.

Very nice track
Dogwood Trace is a gem. Always well kept. Staff is great. Good practice facility. Pace of play was good. Water was provided throughout course and ice and water at the pro shop for you start, turn and finish. My usual complaint, people are not fixing their ball-marks and many were hard to miss craters. Greens were nice but a bit furry and slow. Fairways were also a bit long and rough had a lot of areas that were pretty deep and the ball would disappear. Dogwood Trace is well worth playing and though we didn't stop in this time, the restaurant/bar is nice after round

Wash the carts!
Everything was great but the carts were super dirty and looked run-down. I thought they got new carts but I'm sure these weren't them. Spray them off and wipe them down. The gunk on the side of the seats and dirt on the inside of them is horrible. Other than that the course was in great shape although not many people fixing ball marks on the green, and the staff was super friendly especially the young man behind the counter and the starter Mr. Young.

Great shape
Other than some yahoo ahead of us that kept dropping his wedge on the greens without fixing the damage, and a few other ball marks on the greens, the course was in the best shape I’ve seen it all year

Great course, especially for the value
Played on a stopover in Petersburg. Got in a few minutes early and I was sent off right away by myself. The conditions are very good- no rough tee boxes, greens are in good shape, fairways are cut a little long but also in great shape. The layout was fun and exciting. Nothing boring, lots of undulation and a few really interesting green sites. I wish I had a course like this near me. And for $27 twilight fee I couldn’t believe it! I would love to play here again. Don’t miss it if you’re in the area.
