Suffolk Golf Course

This is a wonderful round for the price. We played in mid-November. It was my wife's first time at the course and she really enjoyed it. The greens were fast and true. There was some issues with pine straw and pine cones on the slightly more tight back 9 greens. The staff was accommodating and the locals friendly. The range is large enough, there are mats and grass, but the grass was a little thin., could be due to the late season. Overall, I would recommend the course, and I will return in the spring for sure.

We had about a 35 minute drive, but was definitely worth it. Tee boxes were decent and the greens had some action to them! Best around right now, especially for the price. Overall, course was one of the best around right now!

Really enjoy playing this course. Much better experience than last time we played. Convinced the starter to let us go a few minutes earlier than we were scheduled. The 4some in front of us allowed us to go through (there was a 3 hole opening between them and the group ahead.) These greens are something else! they roll pure and true. Difficult to read. Suggestion: land the ball short, these greens are firm and the ball will bounce and release. I gave the course a 3 out of 5 ratings for tee boxes that were ruff or uncut and fairways were so so. For a municipal course and this price I can't complain.

I was suppressed to see how beautiful the greens were on a public course. The green were hard and groomed like a pga level course. No I'm not that good of a player to tour on pga courses , however, I have play on nine local public courses and this is top of the list for quality grounds. Oh, by the way the staff was friendly and courteous to a new player. I was also suppressed by the length of the par fives and the change of elevation. overall I really enjoyed the course and I will look forward to play there again.

The course was maintained very well. It’s obvious that this isn’t a private course. It does not have elaborate decorative features at the entrance or the clubhouse. What the Suffolk Golf Course does provide is a beautiful layout and well maintained fairways and greens. The course has the peacefulness necessary to focus on the game and almost forget that just beyond the tree lined fairways are homes and the rest of the city. I played here three times in a week and found no need to go to the semi private/resort courses nearby.

First time playing here, it's a fun course, but maybe not the 1st time you play it. We were fortunate to pair up with a couple locals who revealed hidden dangers. I couldn't get my golf app to load due to a weak cell signal ; given the location would have thought the Verizon signal would have been good - load before u go!

The fairways are a little thin/patchy but a good lie is within a couple feet.

Greens are good (Bermuda) and were fast. They're pretty firm and well hit shot is going to roll out some.

Only disappointment was the bunkers. Most are hard as rock. The firmness is disguised by a couple inches of sand. It's the inconsistency that's the problem. Give 'em a good test with your feet before hitting the shot.

Overall, I look forward to going back and getting some stink out. PS: #10 is a blind, double dogleg, leave the driver n the bag unless ur short off the tee.

The course was in excellent shape today and the weather was great. Staff was very courteous and helpful. The layout makes you think about your club selection especially on the back 9. Definitely will play again.
