Stumpy Lake Golf Course

Had a foursome that ended up with 2 holes open in front of them and 3 groups behind them. Brought it up to Marshall and he just said by the clock they were ok.

The course should advise golf now that the back nine is closed for maintenance and the front nine greens were aerated and heavily sanded.

Great course, long course yardage wise. It has pretty good run off areas if you hit a errand tee shot. Pace of play is great. Staff is friendly. The course is also in a great area it’s behind Stumpy Lake so no houses, cars are around it’s very quiet. I would recommend this course for others. Overall my favorite course in the Hampton Roads area.

Tee boxes were hard as rock throughout. Sometimes I needed two hands to get a tee in the ground. Pace of play was horrendous and people were the really obnoxious type that acted like they owned the place, turned back for clubs they left, and dropped covers with no consideration for others. I wasn't a fan of the par 5s because the trees are too high around the dog legs so your teeing off on a par 5 with a 5 iron which I prefer not to do. Greens were just ok. Ambieance was nice because you are not around traffic. Wouldn't recommend unless you get a hot deal.

The front 9 greens were marked up pretty well. It looks like nobody replaces their ball marks. Hard to putt. Back 9 greens were much better! Tee boxes need a lot of work. Overall a decent course for the money.

Great course just stop tucking the pins an the greens were beat up. But for the most part a good place to play. Very wide open greens were hard great speed but not in the best shape. I’ll go back.

I read some of the other reviews and I don’t think I played the same course that they did. I played at Stumpy Lake Golf Course. This course is in the best shape it’s ever been in. The tee boxes were good. The fairways were perfect. The greens were fast but had just been cut. Bring some bug spray. Golf carts were great. I can’t complain about a thing. I’ll be coming back weekly. The price to play was excellent.h

If you are planning on playing Stumpy i would wait a week or two. The course is a bit beaten up with alot of dead spots and ground being repaired. Also the greens are horrendous and are like putting on a beach. They are in rough shape as well. Also make sure you bring bug spary as the mosquitos are out of control. I gave up after 9 but best of luck to you.

I’m glad I didn’t pay $50 or more.

Pace of play was diabolical. As a single, I was stuck behind a 5 ball (yes - I said 5 ball) and they wouldn’t let me play through.

Tee boxes not good.

Greens were running around a 7 on the stint and not in great condition.

I think I’ll skip playing there for the rest of this season.

It was a beautiful day for golf. The course was in really good shape minus a few wet spots from earlier heavy rain. I felt like we had the course to ourselves which was surprising. Took us 3:10 mins for 18 which was fantastic.

Nice course with some challenges to keep you on your toes. Great day of golf.
